The Son of the Virgin is pierced with a spear. We venerate Thy Passion, O Christ. Show us also Thy glorious Resurrection.”

Holy Friday, or Great Friday, is a day of strict fasting and mourning, commemorating the crucifixion, death, and burial of Jesus Christ. It is the culmination of Holy Week celebrations and precedes Holy Saturday and Resurrection (Easter). On this solemn day, we bow our hearts in remembrance of the greatest act of love the world has ever known—the selfless sacrifice of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The parishioners of St. Gregorios came together and marked the day with deep solemnity, hymns, prayers, prostrations, and reflection.

Pesaha (Passover): Families of the St. Gregorios Parish gathered for Holy Qurbana on the evening of Holy Thursday, participating in the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist.
On Holy Thursday, four significant events are commemorated: the washing of the disciples' feet, the institution of the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist at the Last Supper, the agony in the Garden of Gethsemane, and the betrayal of Christ by Judas. This observance prepares the faithful for Great Friday (Good Friday) and the Feast of Resurrection (Easter).
A highlight following the Holy Eucharist is the sharing of Pesaha Appam (also known as Inri Appam) and Pesaha P**l.

With profound sorrow and a great sense of loss, yet with confident hope in the Resurrection in our Lord, we sadly inform the parish of the passing away of Thampachayan - Dr Kuruvilla Kurian, PhD (65), beloved husband to Mrs Binu Kurian, loving father to Martin, Mauria and Yaseen. He was also our beloved brother in Christ, a devoted parishioner of the St Gregorios Orthodox Church.

Dr Kuruvilla Kurian was instrumental in the building of our parish, dedicating his talents to the service of the Church.

As we mourn his passing, we are comforted by the words of our Lord in Saint John 11:25: "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live". Dr Kuruvilla’s faith in these promises gives us hope that he now rests in the eternal embrace of our Savior.

She was born to Mr. Korah and Mrs. Aleyamma Oommen and the sister of V.O. Mathews, V.O. Oommen, Annamma Joseph, and Sosamma Mathews. She was a dedicated and loving educator who lived a glorious life.

Mary was the beloved wife of M.K. George, the mother of the late Mr. Manoj George (Mrs. Sheela George, Rachel, Elizabeth, Sarah, Thomas), Mr. Binoj George, and Mr. Sunoj George (Mrs. Nancy George, Joshua, and Sonya)

With profound sorrow and a great sense of loss, yet with confident hope in the Resurrection in our Lord, we sadly inform the parish of the passing away of our beloved member, Mr. Manoj George, who peacefully left for his heavenly abode earlier this morning. As an accomplished and pioneer lay leader of the St. Gregorios Orthodox Church, Raleigh, Mr. Manoj George was instrumental in establishing, planning, and building our Church.

Born March 30, 1967, in Puthencavu, Chenganuur, Kerala, to Mr. M.K. George and Mrs. Mary George, Mr. Manoj George got his MBA from the University of Kentucky and then secured his CPA license. He served as the founding CFO of Red Hat Inc and President and COO of Art.com. He also held the position as the CFO of both TearScience and Zaloni, President of M. K. George Advisors, CEO of Nair & Co (Radius worldwide), Associate at Hayflich PLLC, and also the Interim CFO of Channel Advisor.

He was the beloved husband of Mrs. Sheela George and father to Rachel, Elizabeth, Sarah & Thomas, and the elder brother of Mr. Binoj George and Mr. Sunoj George.

The viewing and funeral will be held this Friday, February 11 at our Church and Saturday, February 12 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Cary. The details of the wake and funeral will be informed in due time.
