First Presbyterian Church of Raleigh

First Presbyterian Church of Raleigh "Serving Christ from the Heart of the City to the Ends of the Earth with Love, Faith and Action" - Since 1816, we have served God from the center of Raleigh

We are a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA), a church with roots in the Protestant Reformation. We affirm the sovereignty of God, the Lordship of Jesus Christ and central importance of the Scriptures in shaping our lives and our life together. In our governance and in our theology, we are guided by a two-part constitution: the Book of Confessions and the Book of Order. The Book of Confe

ssions is a collection of creeds, catechisms and theological statements, rooted in Scripture, which help us understand who God is, and how we are to live as God's people.

The Ten Commandments were never meant to be chains.
God gave them after delivering Israel from slavery—not before.
The commandments are gifts that help God's people live in freedom, community, and faithfulness.
"I am the Lord your God..." Before any command comes God's promise.

Happy Father's Day
Today, we give thanks for the many ways fatherhood is lived and experienced among us.
Blessings to the fathers who are celebrating with their children today.
To the fathers who are raising their children on their own.
To the fathers who carry beloved children in their hearts and memories.
To the fathers navigating strained or distant relationships with their children.
To the men who have stepped into the role of father through love, care, and commitment.
To those who quietly long for the guidance and wisdom of a father who is no longer with them.
On this day, we honor the joys, sacrifices, hopes, and griefs that can accompany fatherhood. May God's love surround all who nurture, guide, protect, and care for others, and may each person know the comfort of Christ's presence and the peace of God's abiding grace.
Happy Father's Day. You are remembered, honored, and loved.

Today we recognize Juneteenth, a day that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States and celebrates the enduring hope, resilience, and contributions of Black communities.
As followers of Christ, we are called to seek justice, love our neighbors, and honor the dignity of every person. On this day, we give thanks for those who labored for freedom, remember the ongoing work of racial reconciliation, and pray for a world that more fully reflects God's vision of justice and peace.
