Providence College Ministry

Providence College Ministry We are a faith family committed to following Jesus as we seek to REACH, EQUIP & SEND 18-23 year olds! We gather on Sundays and throughout the week.

Providence College Ministry is a ministry of Providence Baptist Church. On Sundays, we gather with Providence for church at 9:30 a.m. in the worship center to worship God as the gathered church. After this, we go to the Delta Lake Center (a warehouse next to Providence’s main building) for The College Class at 11 a.m. During the college class, we hear teaching from the Bible and then we respond to

the Word by singing together. During this time we eat breakfast and fellowship with one another. We gather throughout the semester in dorms, apartments, coffee shops and homes to study the Scriptures together. We have a curriculum that we use each semester to lead us through our study. Signing up is easy - simply get on the website and fill in your information and someone will contact you. We believe that God transforms our lives as we live in community with others, interacting with the Word of God.

- Ecclesiastes 1:12-2:26 -

Solomon’s on a quest. A quest to find the meaning of life a part from God. He’s seeking to find ultimate satisfaction in several different things:

He thought he would find satisfaction in wisdom, but realized wisdom only lead to vexation & death.

Maybe ultimate satisfaction is found in self-indulgence? Nope, that only lead to emptiness.

Lastly, Solomon sought after satisfaction in toil, but concluded that the enjoyment of his toil is temporary.

Conclusion: Ultimate satisfaction is found in a right relationship with God & a proper use of His gifts. Wisdom, self-indulgence & toil are good things but they were never created to be ultimate things. May we look to God for ultimate satisfaction this week & rest in the finished work of the cross!

—Unreached People Group—

Hey PCM! This week as we kick off Praying for the Unreached, we will be highlighting the Uyghur people in Afghanistan.

The Uyghur people are a Turkic people whose home is primarily in northwestern China. There are no known followers of Christ among these people and for that reason they are a Frontier people group.

Join us in praying that:
- the Bible (already translated in their language) may be used to reach them with the gospel.
- The eyes of the Uyghur people would be opened to salvation in Jesus.
- That God would raise up prayer teams and missionaries to go + break hard soil where these people live.

— The Book of Ecclesiastes —

Yesterday, we began a new series called “All is Vanity” - studying through the Book of Ecclesiastes for the Spring semester!

The main idea the author, Solomon, is getting at is that without Jesus, everything under the sun is vanity. Yet despite all of this vanity, there is hope! As we look at the vanities of this world, we must lift our eyes to Jesus, who satisfies all of our desires by bearing the curse of vanity.

We are excited to continue gathering with you all at Providence and are praying for you as you begin classes + work this week! See you back next Sunday for week 2 of Ecclesiastes and a Prayer + Worship Night!

- New Teaching Series -

What is the meaning of life? That’s the question that the author of Ecclesiastes went on a quest to figure out the answer to. He searched for the meaning of life in money, power, work, pleasure, luxury, knowledge, even wisdom but discovered that “all is vanity!” On this quest for meaning in life, the author learned that all of life had been subjected to futility & to find meaning in life without God would only lead to frustration & emptiness.

At the end of Ecclesiastes, the author exhorts his readers to put their trust in the one who has the ability to reverse all the emptiness that is found under the sun: “The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God & keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man” (Ecclesiastes‬ 12:13).

Can’t wait to dive into Ecclesiastes 1:1-11 THIS SUNDAY for College Gathering! Invite a friend & LETS GOOO!

- 2023 Disciplines -

As we close out 2022 & begin a new year tomorrow, January 1 always provides an opportunity to develop new disciplines for the upcoming year.

One incredibly life giving discipline for 2023 is spending regular time meditating on God’s Word. God’s Word is God breathed & profitable for “teaching, reproof, correction & training in righteousness.” God’s Word reveals the perfect character of God!

Sometimes it can be hard to figure out where to start. This is where a Bible Reading plan can be helpful. A Bible Reading plan can help you read through sections of the Bible that you’ve never read before; it provides accountability; & it highlights how the entire Bible is about Jesus, who is on a rescue mission to restore us back to God.

If you’re still looking for a Bible Reading Plan be sure to head to our linktree in our bio! We have several options available for you to walk through over the next several months.

Happy reading in 2023. We pray it grows your affections for Jesus in new & unique ways.

- Merry Christmas -

Christmas Eve was incredible! Such a sweet way to remember & celebrate Jesus’ birth. May this season grow your affections for Jesus in new & incredible ways.

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭9‬:‭6‬-‭7‬ ‭

- Winter Break Rhythms -

Now that exams are done & our jobs are winding down for the Christmas holiday, we can all say we’re thankful for slower rhythms right? 🙋🏽🙋🏼‍♀️🙋🏼‍♂️🙋🏾‍♂️🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻

Sometimes though, when we’re out of our normal ‘semester’ routine we become more relaxed in our daily pursuit of Jesus. We know we should spend regular time with Him through reading the Word, prayer, scripture memorization & singing but being out of a structured schedule means for some, we become relaxed.

If you desire to maintain healthy devotional habits while on break head to our linktree to read an article by the

- PCM Life Groups -

We at Providence believe that believers grow best in community! You grow best by opening God’s Word together, praying for each other, encouraging one another, & bearing one another’s burdens with fellow believers. Simply put: no human being was ever created to live & function in isolation.

That’s where PCM Life Groups come in. We have 14 PCM Life Groups that are gender specific for College-aged individuals. They meet Monday-Wednesday nights around NC States campus. They study God’s Word, pray & encourage one another.

To learn more about PCM Life Groups or to sign up for one either DM us or head to the link in our bio!
