🌳 Our Roots Run Deep

At St. John’s MCC, we believe a church is much like a tree.

Our roots are in Christ grounded in faith, prayer, Scripture, love, and relationships.
Our trunk is our church family standing together and supporting one another.
Our branches are our ministries and outreach reaching beyond the walls of the church and into our community.
And our fruit is what others experience through us love, acceptance, compassion, hope, healing, and service.

Jesus said, “I am the vine; you are the branches.” — John 15:5

A tree cannot remain strong without healthy roots, and neither can a church. We can have a beautiful building, wonderful programs, and a great Sunday service but our true strength comes from what is happening beneath the surface: our relationship with God and with one another.

❤️ Our roots are in Christ.
🌿 Our branches reach into the community.
🍎 Our fruit is LOVE.

At St. John’s MCC, we are called to be more than a church inside four walls. We are called to be the Church wherever God plants us.

⛪❤️ CHURCH BEYOND THE WALLS

Church was never meant to exist only inside a building.

Church happens when we feed someone who is hungry, check on someone who is lonely, comfort someone who is hurting, stand beside someone who feels forgotten, and show love to people without asking for anything in return.

Jesus didn’t wait for people to come to Him—He went to the people.

As we reflect on our faith, let’s ask ourselves:

Who have I helped lately?
Who have I encouraged?
Who have I checked on?
Have I shown someone the love of God without judging them?
Am I only going to church—or am I being the church?

Church beyond the walls means taking the love we experience on Sunday and carrying it into our community Monday through Saturday.

❤️ The church is not just where we gather. The church is who we are and how we love.

🙏 We invite you to come and be part of a church that believes everyone deserves a place at the table. Come as you are. Bring your questions, your story, your hopes, and even your hurts. There is a place for you here.

Sometimes God delays a blessing because He’s building a bridge to something greater.

What feels like a delay may actually be direction. God may be preparing the way, moving things into place, strengthening you, or protecting you from stepping into something before the time is right.

“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” — Psalm 27:14

Don’t let the waiting season convince you that God has forgotten you. The bridge is still being built. Keep the faith, keep walking, and trust that God knows where He is leading you. 🙏🏽❤️

A delay doesn’t always mean denial. Sometimes it means God is preparing the way.

“This Little Light of Mine” relates beautifully to the church because the “light” can represent God’s love, hope, kindness, and faith shining through us.

For a church message, you could say:

This Little Light of Mine — I’m Gonna Let It Shine! ✨

Church isn’t only about the light that shines inside the building on Sunday morning. It’s about the light we carry with us when we walk out the doors.

We let our light shine when we feed someone who is hungry, encourage someone who is struggling, welcome someone who feels left out, forgive, love without judgment, and simply remind someone that they matter.

Jesus said, “You are the light of the world.” — Matthew 5:14

At St. John’s MCC, may we continue to take our light beyond the walls of the church and into our community. One small light can brighten a dark place—and when we all shine together, imagine the difference we can make. ❤️

Don’t hide your light. Let it shine! 🌟

🙏 Sometimes We Have to Be Still and Listen to God

Sometimes we become so busy trying to figure everything out that we forget to simply be still.

Not every problem needs an immediate answer. Not every situation needs our reaction. Sometimes God is asking us to quiet our minds, open our hearts, and listen.

“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10

When you don’t know which way to turn, be still.
When life feels overwhelming, be still.
When you’ve prayed and are waiting for an answer, be still.

God may be speaking in the quiet. Trust His timing, trust His direction, and remember—you don’t have to have everything figured out today. ❤️🙏

Be still. Listen. Trust God.

Church is more than what happens inside four walls on Sunday morning.

Church happens when we become the hands and feet of Jesus in our community.

It happens when we feed someone who is hungry.
❤️ When we check on someone who is lonely.
🤝 When we help someone who is struggling.
🙏 When we pray for someone who is hurting.
👂 When we listen without judging.
🏠 When we help someone find hope and a new beginning.

Jesus reminds us in Matthew 25:40: “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

At St. John’s MCC, we believe our worship shouldn’t end when Sunday service ends. Our faith should follow us out the doors and into our neighborhoods, workplaces, families, and communities.

Be the church today.

Love somebody. Serve somebody. Encourage somebody. Check on somebody.

Because sometimes the greatest sermon we will ever preach is simply how we love one another. ❤️

For St. John’s MCC, when we say “Come as you are,” it means something deeper than what you wear to church.

It means you don’t have to pretend. You don’t have to have your life figured out, know every Bible verse, have a perfect past, or hide the things you’re struggling with.

Jesus said in Matthew 11:28, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Come as you are means come with your questions. Come with your doubts. Come with your hurts. Come if you’ve experienced church hurt. Come if you’re searching for God. Come if you simply need a community where somebody knows your name and cares about you.

At St. John’s MCC, “Come as you are” means there is a place for you at the table. You are welcome to walk through the doors as yourself and experience faith, love, community, and belonging. ❤️

Come as you are. You are welcome. You are loved. You belong.

Today, we challenge you to do just one simple thing: reach out to someone you haven’t talked to in a while.

📱 Make the phone call.
💬 Send the text.
❤️ Simply say, “I was thinking about you. How are you? You are loved.”

You never truly know what someone may be going through behind closed doors. A simple phone call, text, or “hello” could be exactly what they need today. Your kindness could make all the difference in someone’s life.

At St. John’s MCC, we believe in relationships and community. We believe in checking on one another, loving one another, and reminding people that no one should have to walk through life alone.

So today, don’t just think about that person—reach out. Check on them. Remind them they matter. Remind them they are loved. ❤️

One call. One text. One act of love. It could change someone’s entire day.
