Join us for Interfaith United for Immigrants on Sunday, June 7th at Edenton United Methodist Church.

People of many faith traditions will gather to affirm the dignity of our immigrant neighbors by welcoming, protecting, and standing with them. Through song, prayer, learning, and witness, we can turn respect into action and build a more compassionate community.

🌟 Ministry Spotlight: Medical Presence & Safety at Mass

Meet the dedicated volunteers behind St. Francis of Assisi's Medical Presence and Safety at Mass Ministry.

What began as an effort to rebuild the parish's medical presence after COVID has grown into a ministry focused on compassionate care, situational awareness, and the creation of a welcoming environment for all. As coordinator Bill Logallo explains, the ministry strives to respond to every situation with dignity, kindness, and respect while helping preserve the sacredness of the liturgy.

Through ongoing training in medical response, situational awareness, and de-escalation, led in part by former Raleigh Police Chief and parishioner Harry Dolan; these volunteers help ensure that parishioners, visitors, and vulnerable individuals feel both welcomed and safeguarded.

Interested in serving? The ministry is seeking both Safety Ministers and current or retired healthcare professionals to join this important work.

Catholic Social Teaching Highlight:
Care for God's Creation

We show respect for the Creator by our stewardship of creation. We are called to protect people and the planet, living our faith in relationship with all of God’s creation. This environmental challenge has fundamental moral and ethical dimensions that cannot be ignored. The environment is God's gift to everyone.

Pope Francis reminds us that caring for our common home is something we do together. Community resilience and empowerment call us to build stronger, more connected communities where every person has a voice and a role in creating positive change.

This means raising awareness, advocating for those in need, supporting local initiatives, and fostering a deeper sense of belonging in our neighborhoods. When we work together listening, participating, and taking action we create communities that are better equipped to care for one another and for God’s creation.

Every act of engagement, from volunteering and advocacy to simply knowing your neighbors, helps build a more just, compassionate, and sustainable world.

How are you helping strengthen your community today?
