What happens when members of our St. Francis community come together to share their time and talents? Something beautiful—literally!

Seventeen weavers helped create two special handwoven stoles for the Diocese of Raleigh Bishop Luis and Fr. Chris, with many others working behind the scenes to help make the project and surprise possible. Each received a card signed by the weavers along with a stole filled with meaning and symbolism.

The presentation brought plenty of smiles, too. When Fr. Chris learned there was a stole for him as well, his surprised response was simply: “I get one too?!” 😊

Thank you to everyone who helped weave, coordinate, plan, and somehow keep the secret! This truly was a gift woven together by our community.

Thank you to Bishop Zarama for joining us yesterday to celebrate Mass and help kick off the Diocese's Laudato Si' Action Plan, an important initiative dedicated to caring for God's creation and protecting our common home.

🌟 Ministry Spotlight | Duke Children’s Hospital

For children facing health challenges, the Christmas season can look very different. Each year, our Duke Children’s Hospital Ministry helps bring moments of joy to these children and their siblings through gifts generously donated by St. Francis parishioners.

With Santa Joe and Mrs. Claus at the center of the celebration, and a dedicated team of “elves” working behind the scenes, the ministry offers children and their families a chance to experience the excitement and wonder of Christmas during an otherwise difficult time.

As Santa Joe shares, it’s about being able “to give them a moment of happiness” and support God’s work through compassion and service.

Our Duke Children’s Hospital Ministry is looking for volunteers, including a new ministry leader, to help continue this special St. Francis tradition.

“Take what you need; leave what you can.”

What began as a Girl Scout Silver Award project has grown into a network of Little Free Food Pantries serving communities across the Triangle and beyond.

Jillian Hines, a former student at The Franciscan School, started the project after seeing an opportunity to make food more accessible to neighbors in need. With help from her family, Jillian has installed nine pantries, including one at St. Francis, and inspired local communities to keep them stocked and growing.

Her simple idea is making a meaningful difference, one pantry at a time.
