Many thanks to Dennis Tarkington for his gift of a new needlepoint banner for use in Holy Week or other liturgical occasions that call for red. It features the descending dove, the crown of thorns with 3 nails, and the passion cross.
Red in the liturgical calendar symbolizes blood, fire, and the Holy Spirit, worn to represent passion, martyrdom, and God's love. Key days include Palm Sunday, Good Friday, Pentecost Sunday, and the feasts of apostles, evangelists, and martyrs. It is also used for Confirmation and sometimes ordination.
There are 2 liturgical shades of red found in the background. The darker (blood) red is used only during Holy Week.
Dennis stitched and donated several other banners, as well as working with others on the kneelers and framed Creation depictions that hang in the Parish hall.

Resurrection's voting delegates were established at the 2025 Diocesan Convention: Camille Bowman, Julie Nelson, and Danyell Boyd. All were present for the walkabout and will be voting on January 24th. As your representatives, they would like to hear from members of Resurrection! Please view the interviews below. The video is 2 hours long, but the interview portion is only an hour. Get comfortable and cozy and meet our 2 candidates. Your delegates will be available immediately following the service on the 11th and the 18th if you have feedback you would like to share with them.

A walkabout in the election process of an Episcopal bishop is a time during which candidates meet with members of the diocesan community to share their vision and answer questions from a moderator. This process allows clergy, lay people, and electing convention delegates the opportunity to get to know the candidates beyond their credentials, fostering deeper understanding and connection.

You're welcome to the livestream of the Walkabout for the 13th Bishop Search of the Diocese of Alabama: https://www.youtube.com/live/UaQqwnAUc9Y
