PASTOR STEWART’S MESSAGE 31 MAY 2026: AS THE SPIRIT CALLS

Scripture for today Acts 2:14- 39

Puzzles can be amazing. You must be focused and know not only what designs are on the piece you are looking for, but also the shape and size that will fit. I remember seeing a 1000-piece puzzle being assembled. I was amazed at how much of it had been done. But there was an elderly gentleman who had sat down and began to work on putting some pieces in place. The picture was beginning to take form, and you could tell it was a man walking along a rain-soaked sidewalk in what appeared to be a park. The elderly gentleman found the shape that seemed to fit the man’s face in the picture. He was determined that the puzzle piece would complete the face. The shape may have fit, but the picture of a shoe on it didn’t work too well. That was not an issue for him. He pushed and beat and forced that piece to comply with his wishes. Finally, the picture showed a footless man with a shoe in the middle of his face and a nose for a foot. Too many times, that’s the way our theology is. We twist and manipulate, forcing God’s words to fit what we want and what we desire rather than what God Himself has said and directed. We know what we know, and no one will be able to tell us differently. We will go as far as to even make excuses to God as to why it must be our way instead of His. The whole while, we cling to only half-truths, and everyone knows a half-truth is a whole lie.
The disciples had been given the whole truth, all the pieces to the puzzle. They had a very big problem, just as the man in the beginning did; they were fitting the wrong pieces in the wrong places and came up with the wrong answer. Now, after Pentecost and the filling of the Holy Spirit, those who were once confused, doubting, and afraid found something they had never thought of. They found the fullness of God’s word in them! Have you ever noticed that when we let go, surrender fully, and get out of God’s way, things happen!

Acts 2:14-21(NKJV)14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and heed my words. 15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day. 16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:17 ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God,That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,Your young men shall see visions,Your old men shall dream dreams.18 And on My menservants and on My maidservantsI will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy.19 I will show wonders in heaven aboveAnd signs in the earth beneath:Blood and fire and v***r of smoke.20 The sun shall be turned into darkness,And the moon into blood,Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.21 And it shall come to passThat whoever calls on the name of the LordShall be saved.’

Every Jewish man, woman, and even every child of age would have heard the prophecy of Joel. The Fisherman from Galilee, the disciples, the man once filled with fear, and the same who denied Christ, is given the reins over to the Holy Spirit of God. It is this man who is now standing before a small sea of people. They are themselves confused and do not know what to think. For them, the puzzle pieces are not yet fitting, but Peter is no longer confused! He is not afraid. He sees the bigger picture now, and it is he who is about to connect the dots, or should I say the puzzle pieces, for a whole lot of people! Listen to his words:

Acts 2:22-28(NKJV)22 “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know— 23 Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death; 24 whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it. 25 For David says concerning Him:I foresaw the Lord always before my face,For He is at my right hand, that I may not be shaken.26 Therefore my heart rejoiced, and my tongue was glad; Moreover my flesh also will rest in hope.27 For You will not leave my soul in Hades,Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.28 You have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of joy in Your presence.’

Does it sound like the same Peter to you? He sounds completely different in that he is bolder. In that he is willing to stand up to all those who, just a few weeks before, had been shouting, "Crucify Him!" He is standing before many from other parts of the known world at the time, as a witness to the same Jesus he had denied for fear of his own bodily harm. This indeed was not the same Peter who wondered, who doubted, and who was afraid of the Jewish crowds. This was a newly transformed, Spirit-filled Peter who spoke with accuracy and authority. Yet this was still the fisherman Peter, still the same disciple and Apostle, only now he is endowed with power from above. Now he begins by laying all the pieces of the puzzle, all the facts, out for the world to see. He is putting these pieces of the puzzle together for all who will listen, including us here today. Now the question is, will you listen to what Peter said, or will you reject what he has said?

Acts 2:29-39(NKJV)29 “Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. 30 Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, He would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne, 31 he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption. 32 This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses. 33 Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.34 “For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he says himself:The Lord said to my Lord,“Sit at My right hand,35 Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.” ’36 “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”37 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?”38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

(Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary on the Whole Bible)From the first delivery of that Divine message, it appeared that there was Divine power going with it; and thousands were brought to the obedience of faith. But neither Peter’s words, nor the miracle they witnessed, could have produced such effects, had not the Holy Spirit been given. Sinners, when their eyes are opened, cannot but be pricked to the heart for sin, cannot but feel an inward uneasiness. The apostle exhorted them to repent of their sins, and openly to avow their belief in Jesus as the Messiah, by being baptized in his name. Thus professing their faith in Him, they would receive remission of their sins, and partake of the gifts and graces of the Holy Spirit.

The crowd Peter was addressing heard his words and realized exactly where they stood. It was in the middle of tradition and religion, and the Holy Spirit of God moved them. They had been following the world, their own worldly emotions, and had forgotten to follow the very One their traditions and religion centered around. If you are going to follow Him, then listen carefully when His Holy Spirit reaches out to you and calls you. My dear friends, do not reject Him; but with repentance and obedience yield your flesh to His call. Turn from where you are now and turn toward the Savior. That is repenting! That is moving in a totally different direction mentally, physically, and spiritually from where you started. Peter told the crowd to (repent) and we are called today to do the same (repent). How many did the Holy Spirit of God move that day?

Acts 2:41(NKJV)41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.

May we as well do the same thing by recommitting our lives to the Lord. Maybe you have not yet received the Savior as Lord of your life. There is no day like the present. Repent, turn to Christ, and fully surrender to Him. Believe completely and absolutely in Him and be born again!

Blessings to you, each and every one and may the pieces of your puzzle of life finally and completely fit together,

Amen!!

PASTOR STEWART’S MESSAGE 24 MAY 2026: PENTECOST

Scripture for today: Acts 2:5-13

Let’s start off with a question. Don’t we all desire to be all we can be? Sure, we do! However, most of us here today have been around long enough to have witnessed firsthand what happens when we rely on our own resources. Let’s just say, for the most part, it isn’t pretty, and the end result is often worse than the starting state. We see evidence of this in this physical life, but oh my, when we take on the spiritual things and tasking on our own, well, it’s just ugly out the gate! A pastor from yesteryear said:
(You will never be successful as a Christian, you will never be an overcomer, you will never be victorious, you will never be a soul winner, you will never be a prayer warrior, you will never give glory to Jesus Christ in any realm, in any way, if you're ignorant of the ministry of the Holy Spirit of God. This is not incidental, it is not optional, it is fundamental, it is mandatory if you would live the Christian life and know the joy and the thrill and the victory that God has for you.)Let’s stop and think about this for a brief moment. As we looked at the Apostles of Christ, they were largely ordinary folks with the same feelings and emotions you and I have. One was a tax collector, others were fishermen, and by far all were sinners. They were frightened of the Jews, intimidated by the authority of the time, and not at all a scholarly bunch. Do you think they wished they could be all they could be? Certainly, they did, but they had failed miserably at being any kind of witness to the truth. Now, at the end of forty days of seeing the risen Lord, they had been instructed to go back to their places in Jerusalem and wait.

Luke 24:49(NKJV)49 Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”

This time, there is no trying to figure out what they are to do. It has been made clear. They are to go to Jerusalem and wait for the power from on high. They were to go back into the city of Jerusalem, back to where they were hiding behind closed doors for fear of what the Jews might do to them. They were to go back to that place. Have you ever had to go back to a place you really didn't want to return to? Sometimes that can be really difficult. Sometimes it can even get a bit emotional, and sometimes we have to discover for ourselves that our strength isn’t enough. Have you ever turned to a friend and said these words: (Will you go with me?) Maybe someone has asked you those words. My uncle, a WWII vet, told me that for the longest time, he was not a very religious man. However, he discovered what was meant in the saying (there are no atheists in a foxhole). This occurred when his battle buddy was separated from the foxhole they were in because too many were dying at a time. My uncle said he learned to pray that night while all alone. Our Father has a way of getting our attention even when we don’t want to listen. And here they are, the disciples of Christ, back in the place they started from, the upper room. But there are a couple of huge differences this time. Instead of fearing for their lives, they were joyous. And an even larger change was that they were praying as a group. And not only were they praying as a group, but they were praying all in one accord, that is, with one purpose!

Acts 1:13-14(NKJV)13 And when they had entered, they went up into the upper room where they were staying: Peter, James, John, and Andrew; Philip and Thomas; Bartholomew and Matthew; James the son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot; and Judas the son of James. 14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.

Some people today simply float through life. There doesn’t seem to be an earnest bone in their body. We may pray and half-heartedly seek God, not really expecting an answer. And then once you are out of that foxhole, we sometimes forget that God is in the business of answering. That being said, how long is it you continue to pray and seek God and listen for His answer? Is if for just one minute or maybe two? He has it, He knows the situation, and I’m done? Maybe for five minutes you seek Him. If it is really bad, maybe we can manage to pray consistently for an hour. But don’t we often think that hour is a little much and is actually cutting into our time? How about continuing to pray for something you have seen no sign of for a week? A whole week! Mankind says that’s too much time. Most of us should be seeking forgiveness for the prayer time we are willing to spend with the Father! The disciples kept praying for ten days. They were praying for the Power of God to come upon them, and they were in one accord!

Acts 2:1-4(NKJV)1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

God the Father’s life-changing power does that still today; it changes lives. You may be in a spiritual foxhole, wondering what is coming next, wondering how your life is going to be altered. Friend, if you indeed are a born-again child of God, it is not your life anymore. You are His and not your own. If indeed you have experienced that fire from within that is of God, it will be evident in your life as the fire in you burns and moves you forward as a witness.

Acts 2:5-13(NKJV)5 And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. 6 And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language. 7 Then they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, “Look, are not all these who speak Galileans? 8 And how is it that we hear, each in our own language in which we were born? 9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretans and Arabs—we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.” 12 So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “Whatever could this mean?”13 Others mocking said, “They are full of new wine.”

Isn’t this exactly how the world reacts to the Power of God? Don’t they belittle, deny, and try to pull others away from (the new life)? Sure it is! The old saying misery loves company can be seen even in the days of Christ. For many said that John the Baptist had a demon. They also said Christ was a glutton and a winebibber. That same spirit is still in the world today. It is the spirit of the world that pulls people away from the love of God and requires them to reject Him rather than accept Him. When we accept the wonderful regenerative work done in our lives, it is evident not only to you but also to those around who see and know the before and after person. Yes, there is a difference. The Holy Spirit of God that indwells His believers is the difference and He is our strength and our comfort.
From Fishermen and sinners of various kinds, including a tax collector who is found to be beloved by no one in the community, to followers, believers, and disciples of Christ. They all became witnesses of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! It matters not where you find yourself in this life, but eternity matters in who you will follow and who you believe. Remember the fact that misery does love company. However, know that God is rich in His mercy and grace and has made a way for you. Regardless of the situation or the title or the circumstance, He is calling His own! Through the shouts and ridicule and the misery of this world, His saving grace and mercy awaits. Will you trust in the Lord Jesus Christ? Believe in Him. Repent from your sins and be born again! Be filled with the Holy Spirit of God and be saved!
May the Lord bless you each and every one this day and the days to come! May you be made bold through the Holy Spirit of God and not that of yourselves!

Amen!!!

PASTOR STEWART’S MESSAGE 17 MAY 2026: ASCENSION SUNDAY

Scripture for today Luke 24:44-53

Over the last few Sundays, we have looked at the actions of the Apostles, disciples, and believers after Jesus Christ's resurrection. We have wondered how they could have doubted, and how it was they were not standing by the tomb on the third day with the guards waiting for something they knew would happen. Then came the whirlwind of disbelief, excitement, confusion, and even uncertainty for some. The heart was given a chance to grow callus and harden a bit. We saw that we too are just as subject to those things as the disciples were in the age of Christ! We looked at ourselves and realized that for some of us, it took a lot of spiritual shaking for the scales of blindness to fall from our own spiritual eyes. For the Apostles and many disciples of Christ, they had been made witnesses to the fact that Jesus Christ lives! So what does it mean to be a witness? A witness is someone who sincerely tells what he or she has seen and heard. That word (witness) is used in one form or another twenty-nine times in the book of Acts. So as a witness, it is imperative that we speak and tell exactly what we see and hear with all truthfulness. You know what you know, but you don’t know all that you know! The Apostles had lived with and around Jesus for three years. They had witnessed the miracles, heard the sermons, and even absorbed His teachings, but the comprehension was not there until Jesus Himself put it there!

Luke 24:44-45(NKJV)44 Then He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.” 45 And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.

As we have said before, sometimes we don’t know what we know. You may hear it, but it doesn’t sink in. We fail to comprehend the meaningful message regardless of how it was transmitted. How many times do we misunderstand or take something out of context? Each time that happens, we miss the intended truth of the message. Now Jesus is connecting the dots for them. They are beginning to really comprehend what Christ said about being raised from the dead in three days. Not only that but the suffering that was necessary and now for the Apostles and disciples there is another thing to understand … it is in regards to the words of (being a witness).

Luke 24:46-49(NKJV)46 Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, 47 and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 And you are witnesses of these things. 49 Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”

It is not that there is nothing for the disciples of Christ to do these days. Jesus is instructing His disciples to be witnesses, and in (verse 48), those are His words, (you are witnesses of these things). Somehow, today, there are too many who miss that message on a number of levels. Christ didn’t say the witnesses were the judges or even the prosecuting attorneys sent to condemn the world. The witness is the one who points to Jesus Christ and tells the lost sinners how to be saved! That is exactly what we should be doing. Just like the Apostles, we too need power and strength beyond our own. Sometimes, when we rely on our own power, we get a clear, firsthand look at how insignificant our strength is in spiritual matters. I know we have all been there at one time or another. We want to take the bull by the horns, physically make those spiritual things conform to our power and strength, but it’s not long before we realize how ineffective and weak the flesh is when we're battling spiritual matters. It is completely ineffective own it’s own.
This being the case, then yes indeed, we need help, and that help comes in the form of the Spirit of God. God spoke to Joel the prophet on this matter.

Joel 2:28-29(NKJV)28 “And it shall come to pass afterwardThat I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,Your old men shall dream dreams,Your young men shall see visions.29 And also on My menservants and on My maidservantsI will pour out My Spirit in those days.

The Disciples of Christ would have known this. They would have been familiar with Joel and Isaiah, as well as the prophecies of the Old Testament. So when Jesus spoke the words as He did in Luke 24:49 (Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high), they should have understood something was coming. In the Gospel of Matthew, we have Christ our Lord giving His Apostles and disciples what is known to us as the Great Commission. It is what we are to do.

Matthew 28:18-20(NKJV)18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Jesus knew we would need help, strength, and power to do as He commissioned us to do. He knew we all would and do need that Promise of God. Sometimes it is we who do not understand that. Those Apostles, disciples, and followers of Christ understood because they saw where they went and what they did when things got hard. They hid for fear of what may happen. The flesh chased them into hiding behind locked doors. But now they are receiving a directive from the Lord Jesus. What is it He tells them, but to go and wait for the Promise. Just as with us, yet another chance to be obedient to our Lord and Savior.

Luke 24:50-53(NKJV)50 And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. 51 Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven. 52 And they worshiped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, 53 and were continually in the temple praising and blessing God. Amen.
Luke goes on to write this account in more detail in the Book of Acts. Luke writes within the first few sentences of Acts about the ascension of Christ. He gives us yet more details of that event.

Acts 1:9-11(NKJV)9 Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11 who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”

Why would any of us want to just stand around when there is work to be done? That should make us think of what is in our very own hearts? Have we truly listened to the Holy Spirit as He has called us? Are we obeying His direction and His path for our lives? If you are wondering, seek God while He can be found; that is, seek Him now! Repent of sin completely and fully. Lean on the only begotten Son of God and trust fully in Him. Believe completely that He was and is who He said, crucified, died, buried, and raised to life on the third day, and has ascended to the right hand of God the Father. Believe in Him and be born again.
As we examine ourselves on this Ascension Sunday, may we be keen to listen and to obey. May we be a willing witness both in deed and in speech? May we reflect the power of the risen Lord in our lives and to the world.

Blessings to you each and everyone and may His Holy Spirit, His Promise, fill our hearts!

Amen

PASTOR STEWART’S MESSAGE 10 MAY 2026: SELFLESS MOMS

Scripture for today: Exodus 2:1-10

When we take the time to look carefully at Scripture, it is not hard to find examples of strong, faithful, courageous mothers whose purity of heart exemplifies motherhood. In a crisis or not, being a mother is beyond a full-time job. There are more than enough mothers in scripture to fill hours and hours of study. I selected four; to be accurate, there are three moms and one grandmother. There are many more that are more than worthy to be chosen as examples on this special day! The first one I would like to remind us of on this day of celebration is one many may not immediately identify. Her name is Jochebed. (Exodus 6:20) Quite an unusual name; however, the Hebrew meaning gives us a clue to her faith. The name is translated as YHWH is glory, or Jehovah is glory, or even the LORD is glory. Either way, we understand! She was a Levite mother living in the time of severe oppression and bo***ge. In my mind, when someone lives life based on God’s glory, they are looking much further and broader than their own lives, feelings, and circumstances. This is evident in Jochebed’s actions and her life as a mom. It is also evident that the hand of God moved in her situation, bringing her peace, joy, and hope where death once stood. Many of you may have recognized her name, but if not, you will more than likely recognize her from the following:

Exodus 2:1-10(NKJV)1 And a man of the house of Levi went and took as wife a daughter of Levi. 2 So the woman conceived and bore a son. And when she saw that he was a beautiful child, she hid him three months. 3 But when she could no longer hide him, she took an ark of bulrushes for him, daubed it with asphalt and pitch, put the child in it, and laid it in the reeds by the river’s bank. 4 And his sister stood afar off, to know what would be done to him.5 Then the daughter of Pharaoh came down to bathe at the river. And her maidens walked along the riverside; and when she saw the ark among the reeds, she sent her maid to get it. 6 And when she opened it, she saw the child, and behold, the baby wept. So she had compassion on him, and said, “This is one of the Hebrews’ children.”7 Then his sister said to Pharaoh’s daughter, “Shall I go and call a nurse for you from the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for you?”8 And Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Go.” So the maiden went and called the child’s mother. 9 Then Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this child away and nurse him for me, and I will give you your wages.” So the woman took the child and nursed him. 10 And the child grew, and she brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. So she called his name Moses, saying, “Because I drew him out of the water.”

We first see Jochebed in crisis mode, hiding her son to keep him alive. She is attempting to do all she can to save the life of her son. It is said that desperate situations call for desperate measures. We see this played out in the mother's faith and her courage. We also see God’s favor at work in her life, the lengths to which she was willing to go to save her son! How God blessed her and moved her son to a place to free the entire nation of Israel from the bo***ge of slavery. She is an example of courage!
From the Old Testament to the New Testament, may we look at the mother of our Lord Jesus Christ. Mary’s words, spoken from her heart, still speak to us today. God the Father did not select her at random. He selected her because she was obedient, willing to give of herself, regardless of the cost. It was not by title, nor was it due to a name, and neither was it related to her status that the Lord God chose her. But it had everything to do with her purity of heart and the willingness to serve God. Her obedience could have cost her very life. It could have cost her the man she was betrothed to. It could have caused her to become an outcast from her own family; but to this mom, her purity of heart led her in faith, to follow the will of God. To be entrusted with raising and caring for the very Son of God.

Luke 1:26-38(NKJV)26 Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!”29 But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. 30 Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. 32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. 33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”34 Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?”35 And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. 36 Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. 37 For with God nothing will be impossible.”38 Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her. Did you grasp what departing words she had for the angel? (Let it be to me according to your word). It takes a pure heart to be willing to serve in this manner. The willing servant, Mary, the mother of Jesus, understood the cost of obedience. She faced servitude with faith, honor, and strength, and certainly with magnitudes of courage! She is truly blessed above all women.
Then there are the other mothers who find themselves abandoned and struggling. That certainly is a difficult situation; however, in this example, the mother is able to hold dearly to her faith. She has learned from her mother. Real strength is found in the risen Lord Jesus Christ. The mother and the grandmother paired up to raise a son in these difficult circumstances. The child's father was a gentile. But the mother and grandmother were Jews, strong in faith and scripture. Their faith stood the test of time as they raised their young son/grandson. They held tightly to the faith in a time and circumstance that would have made it easy to turn away. But they refused to reject the Gospel and brought the child up knowing the truth, and the Light of the world. The Apostle Paul identifies them in his second letter to Timothy.

2 Timothy 1:3-5(NKJV)3 I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience, as my forefathers did, as without ceasing I remember you in my prayers night and day, 4 greatly desiring to see you, being mindful of your tears, that I may be filled with joy, 5 when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also.

Both the mother and the grandmother demonstrated great faith over time and raised Timothy in the Scriptures. While the world may measure greatness by fame or influence, God’s word and His scripture remind us that greatness is found in faithfulness. Faith begins at home, and it leaves a legacy. Ordinary moms do extraordinary things every day of their lives. In doing so they are changing the world. We see this through the ages.
My question for us today is, whose life is it that you are speaking God’s grace and love into? Is it your child? Is there anyone? Somewhere there is a child, and that child may be the one who plants a seed that changes the world. Moms, there are none like you!
Perhaps you do not know the power and the wonder found in the God who is rich in grace and mercy. Seek Him, repent, and ask Him into your life. Be born again and be saved!
Blessings to you all on this wonderful Mother’s Day and trust the Lord! He is calling you with a purpose and a reason!

Amen!!!
