Grave Maintenance After Burial:
A grave needs to settle for 3-6 months after burial before seed & straw is put down or foundations are installed. Settling means dirt compacting around the vault in the ground. Dirt is routinely added to graves during this 3–6-month period.
This timeline really depends on the amount of rain that we get to settle the dirt. The more rain received the grave will settle quicker. Less rain the grave will take longer to settle.
Also due to the size of some grave, flat markers will be left out of place until the grave has settled. We will put it back in place after settling.
The cemetery seed & straws graves in the Spring (usually April) and Fall (usually October) depends on the weather.
If you feel like your loved one’s grave needs attention and it is past the 6-month mark, please contact our office and we will get it maintained.
