We look forward to seeing them again on the Other Side!
Davy Lloyd, his wife Natalie, and longtime Missions in Haiti leader Jude Montis were killed by gang members after a youth service outside Port-au-Prince, but Davy’s parents say his final witness was one of faith, forgiveness, and the love of Christ.
David Lloyd said the last words he heard from his son were, “I’m really tired,” after Davy had been badly beaten. Yet witnesses later told the family that Davy continued to preach to his attackers, telling them God would forgive them and that He loved and cared about them.
“It was only supernatural strength that Davy had,” David said. “He was able to continue to preach till his dying breath and just communicate the love of Christ to these people.” His wife, Alicia, said that testimony helped her answer the painful question of where God was in the moment of their deaths: “I know that God was with him.”
In their new book, Strong to the End, David and Alicia remember Davy as a young man who loved Haiti from childhood, Natalie as a wife who sacrificed comfort to serve alongside him, and Jude as a faithful ministry leader who helped carry the mission for two decades. Though they still want justice, the Lloyds say their focus has shifted from “why” to “what now, God?” as they continue praying for Haiti and trusting that even in deep grief, God is helping His people keep their hope.
