Such a beautiful person!

Dear Greater Milwaukee Synod Community,

With a heavy heart I share with you that Rev. Kara Skatrud Baylor died today, Thursday, May 25th, a little after midnight. Pastor Kara was ordained in 2000 and served as the Associate Pastor at Mt. Pleasant Lutheran in Racine from 2000-2014. She then served as Campus Pastor at Carthage College, Kenosha from 2014-2023. Pastor Kara's faithfulness, grace, humor, compassion, convictions, and tenacity has touched countless lives. She will be greatly missed.

Please hold her husband Trenton, and daughters Tova and Thea in your prayers, along with their extended family and friends, as they grieve her loss. Service arrangements are pending, and will be communicated once they are known.

We are deeply grateful for the life and ministry of Pastor Kara. May light perpetual shine upon her!

May 15 Prayer Vigil

ELCA members and the Racine (Wis.) Interfaith Council called for immigration reform at a prayer vigil held outside the Kenosha County Detention Center.

Youth in an after-school program at Emaus ELCA in Racine, Wis., put on a "Prayer Walk of the Passion" performance every year during Holy Week.
