"Self-denial and self-promotion cannot coexist." When Deeper Fellowship Church experienced a massive global outpouring, people traveled from around the world to witness it. Yet, Pastor William McDowell did something shocking: he stopped the massive gatherings while they were still completely full.
Why? Because he noticed a dangerous shift—people were becoming "sign seekers" rather than Jesus seekers. McDowell warns that hosting God means honoring the preference of the Guest, not asking Him to perform on human terms.
True revival cannot be manufactured, nor can it coexist with ego or ambition. Reflecting on his own journey—from a reluctant worship leader to pastoring a movement that started with just 15 people in his living room—McDowell emphasizes that the kingdom key to speed is actually waiting on God. "Outpourings are not an event. It’s an invitation," he says, urging leaders to die to self-promotion and return to pure obedience, humility, and prayer.
