Update: I haven’t posted in a while so here goes. Frank had chemo Mon., Wed. we went to Jackson for a check from his surgery and instructions on how to keep swallowing when radiation starts. He has recovered well from his surgery. Radiation begins Mon. and is every weekday for 7 weeks Chemo is once a week. He is getting refitted for prosthetics today and he can begin working with them, on June 1, if the surgeon clears him. He is planning his escape to come home. I want to wait until his treatments are over but he is so ready to come home. It is in God’s hands.

I go to UAB for an outpatient procedure tomorrow for shots in my vocal cord. I am so thankful that a church member volunteered to take me. I won’t mention names to honor her privacy.

In all of our struggles, God has continued to bless and carry us through along with all the prayers from everyone.

“God will make a way when there seems to be no way.”

Hello friends,
I want to let you know that this post is not about me. It is about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

20 years ago, I wrote and recorded, “Father, Why Me?”. Over the next several years, I found myself too busy to finish and promote this song as well as my other music projects. I thought that I had plenty of time to do so.

But it seems that having plenty of time does not always turn out the way we planned.
About 10 years ago, I had a stroke during bypass surgery and found that I was not able sing the words of any of my songs. The stroke affected my ability to say words correctly, even though I knew in my mind what they were. This realization made me feel that I would never be able to preach or sing my music anymore.

Before long, my Lord Jesus, showed me that I was slowly improving, despite the doctor’s predictions, and that one day I would be able to sing some of the songs. As time progressed, some of the music that I sang my entire life began to come back to me. After about three years, I was able to sing “The Lord’s Prayer” in our church service.

“Father, Why Me?” was extremely difficult for me to sing. I was able to have three different singers perform with our choir and First Baptist Church of Jackson featured it in one of their services. But this is the one song that I prayed I would be able to sing again. Although, I feared I would never be able to.

Do not ever think that there are things you cannot do, because when you leave it to Jesus Christ anything can happen. After working on my song for several weeks, I was able to sing “Father, Why Me? with our choir for the Easter service. It was not perfect as I struggled with some of the words, but God sang me through it.

I hope you will listen to this video and see what God did for me and can do for you if you put it in His hands.

God bless you,
Reverend Frank Zerbel
