A shout out to Special Olympics Massachusetts, as over 1500 athletes and Unified Partners and 1000 volunteers descend on the Harvard University Athletic Complex, starting this Friday, 05 June, for three days of inclusion, sports and fun.

Among the athletes is our own Nick Boakye, who will be participating in the swimming, tennis, running, and more events.
Way to go, Nick!

The mission statement of the Special Olympics says it all:
Imagine a place where, regardless of ability, you are met with acceptance and respect.
Your unique talents are celebrated and you are empowered to chase your dreams.
Hurtful stereotypes are challenged and barriers that keep you from doing what you love are shattered.

At Special Olympics Massachusetts, we’re not just imagining this world, we're building it in your neighborhood and across the Commonwealth.

May the blessing of God be upon all the participants as the Special Olympics, in many ways through the Spirit, are truly carrying out God's Dream.

Trinity Sunday, 31 May

The Church eases us into Ordinary Time with this Sunday’s feast, The Holy Trinity.

Trinity Sunday is the only principal feast of the Church that commemorates a reality and doctrine rather than a person or event. Falling on the Sunday after Pentecost, we celebrate the Holy and Undivided Trinity as the final celebration, after Christ’s resurrection and ascension and the descent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.

Christians have held a festival to honor the Holy Trinity since the ninth century, when it was celebrated in French monastic communities. In the fourteenth century, the festival was universally enjoined by Pope John XXII in 1334 and has been celebrated throughout the world since that time.

A Memorial Day Prayer, by Rabbi Dr. Laurence Milder

Our God, God of our ancestors, we thank you for the numerous blessings you have bestowed upon our nation.
Out of the many nations of the world, our country has been blessed with a singular opportunity - to demonstrate how peoples of many faiths and heritages can live side by side, and enrich one another's lives through friendship and the sharing of our unique traditions.

We are united on Memorial Day, 25 May, in a solemn act of gratitude:
to those who have served in our nation's defense,
to those who have risked their personal safety to save the lives of others,
and above all to those who have died serving this country.
Their sacrifices are forever remembered by us and by our children for generations to come.

We do not forget.

Our hearts go out to those serving today in our armed forces, and to their families.
Those of us who are veterans of previous wars, know best of all what they must be feeling,
what their spouses and children are feeling, what they pray for.
In all our many faiths, we are united in this: our prayers are with those who serve our country today.

We ask God that they may return speedily and in good health and safety to their loved ones.

And may God grant each of us the wisdom to uphold this nation's virtues, that it may continue to serve as a beacon of liberty and harmony between peoples, for all the world to see. Amen. Amen.

THIS Sunday, 24 May - Pentecost Sunday,
CCQ joins Emmanuel Episcopal Parish & Church of Our Saviour
AT Emmanuel Church
519 Washington St at the corner of West St., Braintree, MA 02184
for a festive Pentecost Celebration
BOTH 8:00 AM or 10:00 AM Eucharist.
The Reverend Rachael Pettengill-Rasure, Preacher and Celebrant
The Reverend Clifford R. Brown, Assisting

We are excited about coming together uniting as neighboring Episcopal parishes for a joyful commemoration of the moment when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles and followers of the Risen Christ and blessed them with the courage, grace, perseverance, and strength to preach the Gospel throughout the world.

Can you imagine if we at CCQ and our neighboring parishes unite as one new parish to bring together all of our vitality, all of our joy, all of our amazement and wonderment of God at work into one dynamic entity to preach the Gospel with a strong voice and sufficient resources to our communities of East Milton, Quincy, Braintree, Weymouth, and more in the Episcopal/Anglican tradition.

For the Rector, he continues to ask the Spirit to bless CCQ and our neighboring parishes in this still forming collaboration with the courage, grace, perseverance, and strength to humbly recognize
God's graceful blessing of the Spirit at work.

This Wednesday, 20 May, OJ Misdea Masonry begins the final area of the 2-year exterior repointing work with the replacement of the main staircase leading into the Parish House. The old, worn-out, and leaking (water seeps into the lower parish house lobby) cement and sandstone stairs will be replaced with historically appropriate granite steps and risers. Protective covering over the worksite and protective barriers near the two gardens beside the stairs will be in place. The stairway DOWN into the lower level of the parish house will be blocked off.

Starting THIS WEDNESDAY, 20 MAY, your entrance into the parish house will be through the rear door into the kitchen. If you plan for whatever reason on coming into the building during the construction, please call the office, 617-773-0310, so we can open the rear kitchen door for you. If all goes well, the new stairs should be in place approximately Thursday, 28 May. For safety reasons, we ask that you stay clear of the work site.

The Vestry and the Rector thank you all in advance for your cooperation during the construction, and we are sure that once complete the newly repointed church edifice with its freshly painted doors and windows will continue to be a welcome to all who come inside and all who pass by to the Glory of God.
