🎁 Today’s gifts go a little further, thanks to Andy & Michaela Tappe.

“We are proud to support The Salvation Army and its Angel Tree program because it delivers meaningful, direct assistance to families in need and ensures children in our community experience the joy of the holiday season.”

Their support helps us prepare early so more children, including those often hardest to serve, are cared for when Christmas arrives.

UPDATE: MATCH FILLED. Thank you!

🎉 WCIL Gives starts now!

Now through June 11, you can be part of Give With Joy: Christmas in June, helping prepare for Angel Tree and the children we’ll serve this Christmas.

And today, your gift goes even further.

🎁 We’re grateful to the Women’s Auxiliary for making today’s matching gift possible.

Their commitment to children in our community shows in so many ways, from providing clothing directly to local schools so students have what they need without missing class time, to volunteering during our Red Kettle Campaign.

Because of them, every gift today can go even further.

When you give now, it helps us purchase clothing, essentials, and gifts early, reaching more children and preparing for the season ahead.

Give today while the match is active. https://www.wcilgives.org/give/The-Salvation-Army-Of-Quincy?matching_grant_id=49260

Let’s start the week strong and bring a little more joy to Christmas morning.

06/08/2026

🎄 Right now, it’s quiet.
But tomorrow morning, something meaningful begins.

For the next four days, our community will come together through WCIL Gives, and every gift will help shape what Christmas looks like months from now.

Not all at once.
Not all on Christmas Day.
But in the small things that happen because someone gave early.

That starts tomorrow.

Yesterday was United Way of Adams County, Inc. (Adams County, IL) Day of Caring, and we were lucky to have WGEM News - The Tri-States' News Leader at Family Services helping us paint and clean. We really appreciate them taking the time to come out and lend a hand!

We’re so grateful for volunteers who show up and make a difference. It truly means a lot to us and the people we serve.

🍩 What a sweet National Donut Day!

Thank you to everyone who joined in the fun and braved the pouring rain to support our Drive-Thru Donut Sale! A special thank you to Hy-Vee and Hy-Vee for their generous partnership in making it all possible. 💛

We also had the honor of continuing our tradition at the Illinois Veterans’ Home, celebrating with donuts, the brass band, and a look back at the legacy of the Donut Lassies.

One of the highlights was spending time with Charlie Doan (who's 101!), a longtime part of The Salvation Army who once helped cook our community dinners. It was such a special moment to share the day with him.

Thank you for helping us carry on this meaningful tradition!

🍩 National Donut Day is about more than a sweet treat.

It's a day rooted in joy, service, tradition, and community, values that have been part of The Salvation Army's National Donut Day celebration since it was established in 1938.

💛 In Quincy, you can be part of that tradition this morning! Stop by Hy-Vee Hy-Vee (Broadway or Harrison) from 7–9 a.m. and pick up a dozen glazed donuts for $12.

Thanks to Hy-Vee’s generous partnership, proceeds will support The Salvation Army Food Pantry.

It takes a community to bring Christmas to life.

We’re so grateful for the incredible group of individuals who have stepped up to be our Joy Givers for WCIL Gives, happening June 8–11. ✨

A Joy Giver is someone who helps make Christmas possible long before it arrives, sharing the mission and helping ensure more children experience the joy of Christmas morning.

Because of them, more gifts will be purchased.
More needs will be met.
And more children will experience the joy of Christmas.

💛 Join us in cheering them on and supporting their pages:
Matt Schmidt, Richard Forney, Linnea Forney, Jake Reed, Heather Marie Martin, Heidi Howard, Laura Dighe, Patrick Smith, Kellea Hendrian, Kate Shuker, Susan Till, Steve Salrin

We’re thankful for each of you helping bring a little more joy to our community.

National Donut Day is about more than a sweet treat.

It's a day rooted in joy, service, tradition, and community, values that have been part of The Salvation Army's National Donut Day celebration since it was established in 1938.

As we prepare to celebrate this Friday, we're reflecting on the legacy of the Donut Lassies and the many ways a simple act of kindness can brighten someone's day.

🎄 Christmas looks different for every child.

For some, it means a new coat that actually fits.
For others, it’s something they didn’t expect to have at all.

At The Salvation Army of Quincy, we start preparing for those moments long before December.

That’s why we’re part of WCIL Gives (June 8–11) with our campaign:
Give With Joy: Christmas in June

When support comes in now, we’re able to shop early, when prices are lower, and dollars stretch further.
