For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright. Psalms 11:7

God is utterly righteous. He loves righteousness and hates iniquity. His face shines approvingly on those who walk uprightly, but He is angry with the wicked every day. (Psalm 7:11) It is impossible to please God while being unrighteous, both as to outward conduct and the character of one's soul.

O Righteous Father, all of Your decisions and all of Your actions are just. You, Lord, love righteousness and demand it in us. But we are unrighteous by birth; we were conceived and born fallen creatures. We are Your children, wearing the righteousness of Your Son. Help us to live righteously before You and do those things that please You. Amen.

Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked. Proverbs 10:6

The wicked are often known by their speech. Though they can hide what is in their heart and speak to cover it up, at some point inevitably, of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. The wicked are violent against God, His truth, and His people; they rage about looking for some person on whom to vent their anger against God.

O Lord, You have poured down untold blessings of grace upon the head of Your people, but the world is hostile to You, Your Word, and Your children. We walk like Daniel among lions, but You can shut the mouths of the lions. We shine as lights in a pitch-black night, but the darkness cannot overcome the light. We will not fear man, for if God is for us, who can prevail against us? Amen.

And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth. Genesis 9:16

We may hear of many creative, and today of one particular perverse, ideas of the meaning of the rainbow. But God tells us here that its true meaning is a token of His promise not to destroy the world again by a flood as He did in the days of Noah. A judgment on the earth by fire, however, shall come. (2 Peter 3:10)

How fearful are Your judgments, O God! None can escape Your justice by fleeing or hiding or by argument. You judged the world once with a flood, and again a judgment by fire will come. Your judgments are just, O Lord! We pray for those who do not know You, that they may run to their only hope, even to Your Son Jesus Christ, before it is too late for them. Amen.

Then the Levites, Jeshua, and Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabniah, Sherebiah, Hodijah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah, said, Stand up and bless the LORD your God for ever and ever: and blessed be thy glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise. Nehemiah 9:5

The glorious "name" of God is the full expression of His holy attributes, which are far too exalted for even our highest praise to fully match. His nature is incomprehensively holy and incomparable to anything we know. And yet, we are commanded to praise Him as much as we are able and to acknowledge His infinite greatness.

Lord God Almighty, Your name is too glorious for me to even begin to comprehend. Your ways are exalted above mine like the heavens above the earth, and I cannot fully understand them. But I praise You, O Lord, with true knowledge from Your Word as to who You are. And I have experienced Your love and power in my life. For that I praise You also. However incomplete, I will praise You with all of my ability. Amen.

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:2

The "law," or "principle," that reigns in the natural man is that of sin, which leads to death. A principal of life works in the believer, however, and this is the work of the Spirit. And the life that He gives sets us free from the dominion of sin and death, for greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world.

O Spirit of life, we mourn for the sin that still remains in us and that causes us to stumble at times. But we rejoice that we are the workmanship of God and that He will finish the work He has started. Set us free ever more from bo***ge to our own sinful desires, changing our hearts toward godliness, with Your Word. Amen.

Do all things without murmurings and disputings:That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
Philippians 2:15

Do you want to live differently than those who do not follow God? Stop grumbling! As believers, we are told to avoid grumbling and arguing in everything – instead, we should do all things as unto Christ. If you take a look around, you will hear a lot of people grumbling and complaining. Imagine how different you will look if you replace the constant complaining with joyful thanksgiving – you will shine like the stars in the sky.

Dear God, I know I have grumbled and complained about my circumstances, and I know I have argued with others. Help me to change my attitude today. Help me to have an attitude of gratitude so I may be seen as blameless and pure in Your eyes. May I live my life so that I may bring Your glory and draw others to You. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

In him was life; and the life was the light of men.And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. John 1:4-5

Death equals darkness, whereas life equals light. Through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, those who believe in Him have eternal life. That means they have been called out of darkness and into the light. Hallelujah! Furthermore, darkness will never overcome the light for His light shines in the darkness. Much like how even in the darkest room the flicker of a candle light is seen, His light will never be extinguished.

Dear God, thank You for the incredible gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Through His death and resurrection, we have been set from death and given eternal life. Our salvation sets us apart in the midst of darkness. Thank You for overcoming darkness, O Lord. May we live our lives shining brightly to bring Your glory and draw others to You. In Jesus' Name, amen.

According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death. Philippians 1:20

It is easy to be fearful or worried about how nonbelievers will perceive you; however, as the Apostle Paul shows, we have nothing to be ashamed of when it comes to Jesus Christ! Instead, we should boldly share our faith in Jesus with others. Yes, people have suffered for their faith (and some have even died), but we should be courageous enough to allow both our lives and our sufferings to display Jesus boldly.

Dear God, thank You for loving me enough to send Your Son to save my life. Thank You for not turning away from me while I was yet a sinner even though You had every reason to be ashamed of me. Forgive me for the times when I was ashamed and scared to share my faith in You with others. Give me the boldness to share Your hope with others. In Jesus' Name, amen.
