On this 25th anniversary of September 11, UUA President Rev. Dr. Sofía Betancourt reflects on the lives changed by that day and its aftermath, and on the grief that continues to be carried by so many.
As we remember those who died and hold close all whose lives were forever changed, we are also called to recognize the lasting impacts of September 11 in the years that followed—on families, communities, and people here in the United States and around the world.
As Rev. Dr. Betancourt reminds us, this is a moment to resist fear and hate and to recommit ourselves to healing, justice, pluralism, and love. May we meet this anniversary with compassion, care, and a renewed commitment to one another.

On the September 13, the congregation of United First Parish Church returns to the sanctuary for the start of the church year and observance of our annual water ceremony. All are invited to gather outside at 10:15 a.m. to greet one another and listen to music performed by percussionist Matt Meyer. We will enter the sanctuary together at 10:30. Please bring water from a place that is meaningful to you. Water will also be available at the church. An ice cream social will follow the service.

Chalice Circle for September 6 will be led by Beverly Garcia and Jacqueline Rodriguez on “Finding Self-worth outside of Capitalism/jobs. Join us at 10:30 a.m. in the parish hall of United First Parish Church, 1306 Hancock St., Quincy, as we talk about what gives meaning when we are not defined by our jobs.

The Gift of Ordinary Moments will be the theme of the Chalice Circle at 10:30 Sunday, August 30, at United First Parish Church. The presenters will be Nicole and Izzy Smith. All are welcome.

Join us on Sunday, August 23rd at 10:30am in the downstairs dining room for our Chalice Circle “What is your favorite protest song?” led by Sharon Gamache & Nate Scafe (presenters) and Ann Marie & Rev. Rebecca Froom (facilitators).

Advocating for social change both takes and gives energy, but sometimes we can find just the right song to inspire us to keep working for change and improvements. Come join us to sing some of the songs that move us and to discuss the song or songs that mean the most to you. Feel free to bring a friend if you think they would like to sing with us. We will meet in one group, downstairs in the dining room (enter as usual through the parish hall). Elevator access is available, and refreshments will be provided.

Each summer, we gather in the parish hall on Sunday mornings for Chalice Circles in lieu of worship. Chalice Circles are a form of small group ministry, which invites deep listening, reflection, and sharing on a thoughtful topic. Each Sunday, a congregant leads that week’s Chalice Circle, presenting the topic for reflection and discussion. Chalice Circles run from June 28th–September 6th. Childcare is available.

Join us on Sunday, August 16th at 10:30am in the parish hall for our Chalice Circle “Laughter as Resistance: The Power of Satire” led by Beverly Garcia & Elin Nelson (presenters) and Israel Smith & Brenda Reed (facilitators).

Humor brings much-needed levity to our lives, but people often dismiss it as silly or frivolous, especially in trying times such as these. This week's session posits that well-done humor and satire can bring us face to face with perspectives we hadn't considered, cause us to look at problems in different lights, speak truth to power (and in the process render it less daunting), and replenish our spirits - which, in a world designed to break us, may be the most important thing of all.

Book Group begins again on September 3rd!📚📖🌟

The Book Group meets on the first Thursday of the month from 7:00 to 8:30pm, with a gap in the summer and in December. All members and friends are welcome to join us. We will conduct our meetings via Zoom. Each year, we choose a variety of genres and forms. You are welcome to come even if you have not finished the book.
