He was born into slavery. He was expelled from a Catholic school and rejected by every seminary in America. Still, Augustus Tolton refused to abandon his calling.
After studying and being ordained in Rome, he returned to Quincy to serve people of every race.

Today we had a lovely group of St. Anthony women attend the 97th Annual Springfield Diocesan Council of Catholic Women Conference! We were able to get most of the St. Anthony women who attended in our group picture! It was a lovely day and Teresa Tomeo from EWTN was an amazing speaker! 🙏✝️⛪️❤️
