SCRIPTURE: ROMANS 1: 1-7

SUBJECT: "STARTING WITH A GOOD FOUNDATION!"

Today we welcomed and joined our newly appointed Pastoral Team for the 2024-2025 AME Conference Year (Pastor Rev. Aundre' McGlockton, Sr. and First Lady Rev. Joan McGlockton) during 10:00 AM worship services. 🙂

Rev. Aundre' McGlockton shared a word from ROMANS 1: 1-7 and reminded us that this passage symbolizes "a beginning". It was Paul's first opportunity to introduce himself to a new congregation--the saints in Rome. Rev. McGlockton highlighted four (4) key points that stressed the importance of starting out on a good foundation!

FIRST, a good foundation begins by acknowledging "who" we are in Christ! We each need to know our role/our purpose. Are we "a helper/a worker" or are we "a giver/a supporter"?🤔🙏🏽
SECONDLY, a good foundation begins with "believing in the power of the Resurrection" (We believe Jesus rose from the grave with ALL power in His hands and is sitting on the right hand of GOD waiting to help us).🙌🏽
THIRDLY, a good foundation begins with "knowing that we're not in any situation by ourselves! GOD's Word tells us that the Lord will "never" leave us or forsake us; so we must trust GOD and stand firm on His Word!🙏🏽✝️🙌🏽
FOURTH and finally, a good foundation begins with "greeting others with the "Blessings of Grace and the Peace of GOD, the Father!" Showing everyone genuine agape love!

In short, our spiritual lives must be built on a good foundation and that good foundation is "JESUS CHRIST"! JESUS is that SOLID ROCK and the strongest foundation we could ever know!!🙌🏽✝️🙌🏽

Scripture: JOHN 6: 20 - 35

SUBJECT: "JESUS IS THE BREAD OF LIFE"

We praise GOD for blessing us with Rev. Matthew Bryant Sr as our beloved Pastor for 32 years! Today Rev. Bryant spiritually fed us from John 6: 35 highlighting that "HEAVEN'S BREAD is a PERSON" and reiterating that "JESUS IS that BREAD!

When we partake of "Heaven's Bread", our soul is spiritually fed everything that we need! Heaven's Bread has (1) POWER to save, secure and satisfy every sinner who comes to JESUS. Heaven's Bread has (2) PROMISES to give us eternal life; and Heaven's Bread has (3) a PRICE of self-denial and repentance requiring us to turn our lives over to JESUS!

Biblically speaking, we can never be saved by some religious system or method or practice. The Lord, JESUS CHRIST, is the only way to salvation! JESUS is the "Bread of Life" to everyone who believes. He's a doctor in a sick room, a lawyer in a courtroom, a comforter when we're hurting, food when we're hungry, and a companion who will walk and talk with us each day!

The Lord is everything we need! He is the "BREAD OF LIFE" to ALL of us. So, let us open our hearts and feast daily off the "BREAD OF LIFE" when things are going well and even when things are very challenging! Feeding our spiritual bodies daily will allow others to see our spiritual growth! In essence, this "HEAVENLY BREAD" is food that others should be longing to partake of to experience the eternal love and presence of our Lord and Savior JESUS CHRIST!🙏🏽✝️🙌🏽

Are you hungry for JESUS? If so, open your Bible and start reading, meditating and feeding your spiritual body some Heavenly Bread!🙏🏽✝️🙌🏽📖🙏🏽

SCRIPTURES: PSALMS 37: 1 - 4 and PSALMS 23

SUBJECT: "THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD"

Bro. Fred Anderson Jr., a member of the St. John AME Church Steward Board and an Exhorter, allowed the Lord to use him to share a message from the scriptures. He began by acknowledging the Lord as his own shepherd, and sharing personal convictions and experiences of the Lord's goodness!

Bro. Anderson simply stated that the Lord cannot be our shepherd if we don't truly know Him. When we claim to KNOW someone, we may know their name and face and a few things we've seen or heard; but what do we really know about the person? Do we know their likes and dislikes? Do we know their favorite color or favorite food or favorite song? Do we know their every thought or what's within their heart or if they have a true relationship with GOD? These are the things that emphasized the difference between "KNOWING" someone versus "KNOWING ABOUT" someone.🤔

The same is also true when we say we "KNOW THE LORD"! Just saying it or shaking the preacher's hand or going to the church building doesn't let us truly know the Lord! GOD forbid that we're just going through the motions! We have to humble ourselves before the Lord, get down on our knees and go to Him in sincere prayer. The Lord sees us, hears us and knows everything about us! He knows every tear we shed and will wipe the tears away. The Lord can mend a broken heart, repair a broken relationship, heal us of all our illnesses, and give us the victory over our circumstances if we truly KNOW Him 🙏🏽🙌🏽

In short, when we let the Lord be our shepherd, we won't need anything else because He will give us everything we need! The Lord will make us lie down in peace, and give us comforting assurance that death is nothing to fear because we'll be sleeping in His arms! Regardless of how difficult or challenging life may seem, we MUST remember that our "GOD is ALL POWERFUL AND THERE'S NOTHING HE CAN'T DO!" Even when we don't see the Lord working in our situations, we MUST KEEP PRAYING, TRUSTING AND BELIEVING! In due time we will see the Lord show up, show out and show others "THAT HE IS WATCHING OVER US" and we can boldly testify "WHAT A MIGHTY GOOD SHEPHERD HE IS!"🙏🏽🙌🏽

SUBJECT: "PRAISE YE THE LORD"

If you were present or listening in, you were blessed with another "soaking message" from the Bible delivered by our beloved Pastor, Rev. Matthew Bryant Sr! He noted that in the scriptures and in the hymns, we find the words "PRAISE GOD FROM WHOM ALL BLESSINGS FLOW..."! These words let us know that we all need to sing praises unto the Lord all the time! Praising the Lord should be the FIRST thing on our mind because of all that the Lord has done for us. When we meditate on the Lord, we're able to dwell upon His unspeakable gifts, especially the gift of life. Praising God is simply "thanking God for everything big and small that happens in our lives.

If we take a moment to reflect on our past, many of us can recall memories of our parents, grandparents and elders just walking through the house singing spirituals and praising the Lord. Today we praise the Lord when we (1) Shout "GLORY HALLELUJAH!" (2) Lift up "HOLY HANDS" and (3) Sing "SONGS OF PRAISES" with our whole heart! Know that when we praise God in private, He'll show up openly and bless us so that others can witness His awesomeness!

In short, we have "eternal reasons" to praise the Lord. Our GOD is good All the time! He's good in times of peace, turmoil, strong health, sickness, famine, and prosperity. The Lord keeps us safe from all hurt, harm and danger and at night God watches over us while we are asleep. We praise God because He calls us His children, chooses us for His purposes, provides our every need, and loves us unconditionally! Regardless of whatever else we may have, our most important possessions are having a personal relationship with the Lord; having a "Spirit of Thanksgiving" for the Lord; and letting the world know we're on the Lord's side! 🙏🏽✝️🙌🏽🙏🏽

Scripture: MARK 6: 45 - 50

SUBJECT: "STORMOLOGY"

Our Pastor, Rev. Matthew Bryant Sr, delivered a "soaking message" and ALL hearts, minds and ears were tuned in! It was a reality check about storms that he presented "slow and steady like fresh rain drizzling outside"!

In this Biblical passage, the disciples found themselves suddenly in a storm and were a little uneasy about their current situation. The disciples were nervous and didn't realize that JESUS saw them toiling and struggling. As He went to calm their fears, the disciples became even more frightened! They didn't recognize JESUS until the Lord gently spoke to them in the storm and reassured them that He is ALWAYS with them. (Mark 6:50)

Just like the disciples we can get so troubled when storms come, and it's not the outward calamity that makes us uncomfortable; but it's the wounds within us as a result of previous experiences and trauma. Storms come for different reasons. Some come to test our Faith; while others come to clear our paths for receiving a special blessing! Storms may bring us more troubles than we can endure or more pain than we can handle or more problems than we can solve! Storms just keep on coming, and that's what we know as STORMOLOGY!

Whenever we encounter any storm in our lives, let us remember that our Heavenly Father is already nearby. We just need to spiritually SEE Him, and He will see us through if we turn the situation over to Him! In fact, the best prayer when storms come in our lives is a 3-word plea... "LORD, HAVE MERCY!"

Finally, if we look to the Lord and put our trust in the Lord and let Him take control of the storm, GOD WILL MAKE A WAY TO GET US THROUGH THE STORM! Always remember that as long as GOD is in control, we have absolutely nothing to worry about! 🙏🏽✝️🙌🏽 Can you see JESUS in your storm? 🤓 Look prayerfully with your spiritual eyes because the Lord definitely sees you!🙏🏽

Scripture: MARK 14: 22 - 25

TOPIC: "THE LAST SUPPER"

The message for this first Sunday in August was centered on the Biblical passage describing the preparation and the purpose for "The Last Supper" also known to some as "The Passover Meal". It highlights the Lord JESUS joining with his disciples to eat the "last meal". A meal purposely designed by GOD, the Father, for GOD, the Son, in order to create a new covenant between GOD and us...the sinner!

Preparation for the "last supper" consisted of roasting an unblemished lamb (symbolic of Jesus' innocence) eating bitter herbs (symbolic of the hardships we endure) and drinking red wine mixed with water (symbolic of the blood JESUS shed on the cross when they pierced him in his side). We must realize and understand, however, that the shedding of the little lamb's blood is not what saves us. The only blood that can save us is the "blood of JESUS", and until we receive the Lord by Faith, his death on the cross is meaningless!

Therefore, it is crucial for each one of us to know who JESUS is. We need to have a "personal relationship with the Lord so we can know him for ourselves! The Lord already knows everything about us including the thoughts of our hearts. YES, he knows where we are every second of every minute and he sends angels to watch over us at all times because he loves us.

One day we will each sit down somewhere and partake of our "last supper". Let's pray that our hearts and minds are clean and that we are walking closely with the Lord at that time! Then our lives will show others that: "WE FOUGHT A GOOD CHRISTIAN FIGHT; and WE WERE READY! This could be your "Last Supper" ... Are YOU READY TO BE OFFERED UP TO THE LORD?" 🤔 🙏🏽✝️🙌🏽
