Astoria Community Church

Astoria Community Church “Our Mission is to glorify God by learning of God, living in Christ and loving God and our neighbors.” We are a church that welcomes everyone.

What to Expect:

We would love for you to visit Astoria Community Church! Here’s what you can expect at our weekly worship services. ACC meets to worship God every Sunday at 10:30 am at the Astoria Center of Israel Synagogue. This is a beautiful building that has been part of our neighborhood for over 75 years. Yes, it might seem a bit strange to have a Christian worship service in a Synagogue, an

d we are very grateful to the ACI congregation for allowing us to rent such a great space on Sundays in the heart of Astoria, Queens, NY. There is no dress code at ACC, so come worship God however you feel comfortable. Most of the congregation dresses pretty casually, but a few of us “dress up” from time to time. Feel free to bring your Bible with you to church, but in case you can’t, all the Scripture passages will be printed for you in the worship program that is handed out. Our congregation consists of people from many different backgrounds and nationalities. We have singles, married couples and senior citizens. And we are very “kid-friendly”. Excellent childcare is provided for infants through age 4. (But you are welcome to keep your child with you if you want; we don’t mind a little noise.) We are planning to relaunch our children’s Sunday school classes in the new year (2022). The worship at ACC is centered on the proclamation of Scripture, the Word of God. The sermons seek to expound the meaning of the day’s text, highlighting Jesus Christ as the central focus of the whole Bible. Singing praise to God is an important part of our worship service. Our music is led by Linnea Kickasola and other gifted musicians from the congregation. Every Sunday we gather at the Lord’s Table to take Communion together. You don’t have to be a member of ACC to participate. Any baptized believer in Christ who belongs to a church that teaches the gospel is invited to partake. If you have any questions about ACC, please call or contact us.

"The deepest obstacle in marriage is self-centeredness. The gospel calls husbands and wives to something radically different: sacrificial love, humility, and Christ-centered partnership that reflects the relationship between Christ and His church." “We live in a distracted world that constantly trains us to drift. But Paul reminds us in Ephesians 5 that true wisdom is not found in mastering life, but in being mastered by the Spirit of God, who teaches us to live life shaped by Christ.”Listen to Pastor Jim's sermon, titled “Walking in Wisdom”. https://www.astoriachurch.org/sermons

“The biblical call to generosity is not found in a plan or a percentage but a person. Jesus Christ’s own incredible generosity for us is the power for Christian giving that changed the church in Corinth and can change our churches today. Jesus, though he was rich, became poor for our sake, so that we who were poor might become rich.” Listen to our guest preacher Alan Charnock’s sermon titled, Giving is a Gift. https://www.astoriachurch.org/sermons/sermon/2026-05-03/giving-is-a-gift
