Fear Not!
Day 13 — Daniel Fast Devotional
Theme: Fear
Text:
“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” — Isaiah 41:10
The author shared an experience with her 6‑year‑old daughter during a family rock‑climbing outing. As the little girl descended the wall, she slipped and was left hanging in mid‑air. Though she had climbed many times before, fear overwhelmed her. She froze—unable to listen to her parents’ instructions that would have guided her safely down.
Her father eventually climbed up to rescue her, yet even then she resisted the help she desperately needed. Fear had completely taken over.
This moment reminded the author of how often we hang on the “mountainsides” of life—gripped by fear, worry, or uncertainty. In those moments, we forget that God is a loving Father who is always ready to defend, guide, and rescue us. Unlike human parents, God does not grow impatient or frustrated. He does not condemn us for panicking or hesitating.
Even when we resist Him, He still comes after us.
God is the perfect Parent—gentle, patient, and faithful. He wants the best for us, and He invites us to trust His presence, His strength, and His rescuing hand.
When fear narrows your vision, remember His promise:
God is with you. God will help you. God will uphold you.
Let His presence quiet your fear and steady your
steps.

God’s Tool
Day 12 — Daniel Fast Devotional

Theme: The Right Tool

Text: “Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.” — Psalm 119:105

When something breaks at home—a faucet, a hinge, a handle—we instinctively reach for the right tool. The wrong tool only makes the problem worse. The right tool makes repair possible.
Life works the same way.
When something in your world breaks—a relationship, a plan, your peace—God has already placed the right tool in your hands: His Word.
The author asks a piercing question: How do you respond when something in your life breaks?
Do you react with frustration, or do you lean in with anticipation, knowing God is about to work?

James 1:2–4 reminds us that trials are not random—they are refining tools. They shape endurance, deepen faith, and mature us. Trouble isn’t a sign that God has abandoned you; it’s a sign that He’s equipping you.

So today, when something feels broken, don’t reach for anger, fear, or self‑reliance. Reach for the all‑purpose tool God has given you.
His Word still guides. His Word still repairs. His Word still restores.

Let Scripture be the lamp that shows your next step and the light that reveals your path forward.

Dr. M Williams' Message
As a church family, we have been engaged in the Daniel Fast—seeking to draw closer to God while also improving our physical health, which has always been part of God’s desire for His people. Interestingly, we are not the only ones paying attention to the importance of health. Even our government and major health institutions are sounding the same alarm.

At my hospital, we were recently encouraged to adopt a plant‑based diet to improve glycemic control and strengthen cardiovascular health. Think about that for a moment: a secular public hospital promoting the very lifestyle principles our church has preached for over a century—principles many of us have not fully embraced.

Brothers and sisters, God gave us a blueprint for abundant living long before modern science confirmed it. It’s time for us to return to God’s original plan.

Can Dry Bones Become Alive?

Day 11 — Daniel Fast Devotional

Theme: Dry Bones

Text: “I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?” — Jeremiah 32:27

There was a moment in gross anatomy lab when the author paused over a cadaver and realized something profound: the only difference between her and that lifeless body was the breath of God. That realization brought Ezekiel 37 rushing back—Ezekiel standing in a valley of dry, scattered bones, commanded by God to prophesy life. As he obeyed, God transformed death into a vast, vibrant army.
Like Ezekiel, you may be standing in your own valley of dry bones. Maybe you can’t see beyond the disappointment in front of you. Maybe the situation feels finished, silent, or beyond repair. But God is inviting you to shift your perspective.

What looks lifeless to you is not lifeless to Him.
What feels impossible is not impossible for Him.

Whether it’s a strained marriage, a stagnant job, a weary spirit, or an uncertain future, the Lord is still speaking life.
Trust His Word, and watch the God who breathes into dust create something powerful, beautiful, and new.

Tunnel Vision Highlighted

Day 10 — Daniel Fast Devotional
Theme: Tunnel Vision
Text:
“Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another… No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and His love is made complete in us.” — 1 John 4:11–12

Tunnel vision is a medical term describing the loss of peripheral vision—your field of view narrows until you can only see what’s directly in front of you. Spiritually, the same thing can happen. Our focus shrinks to me, myself, and I, and we become unaware of the needs, hurts, and burdens of those around us.
The author reminds us that tunnel vision makes us self‑absorbed, unable to reflect Christ’s love. But if we are to represent Jesus well, we cannot live with a narrowed, self‑centered focus. God’s love calls us to look outward—toward the people He places in our path.
No matter what pressures, disappointments, or personal struggles we face, we cannot allow them to crowd out the truth of God’s love for us. When His love is in clear focus, loving others becomes the natural overflow.
The author encourages us:
When life weighs us down and our spiritual vision begins to narrow, pause and spend a few minutes with God and His Word. As we do, our “peripheral vision” returns. We begin to see people again. We become aware of needs again. And we are freed to share God’s love generously with those around us.
Love widens your vision.
Love restores your focus.
Love makes God visible through us.

"O Give Thanks Unto The Lord!

Day 9 — Daniel Fast Devotional

Theme: Be Patient and Don’t Grumble
Text:
“Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:18

The author shared a moment from her kitchen: a poorly sealed garbage disposer suddenly burst, sending its contents everywhere. It was messy, unexpected, and frustrating — not the way anyone wants to begin a day. As she cleaned, stress rose and irritation followed.
Right there, in the middle of the chaos, the Holy Spirit whispered the reminder from James 5:7 and James 5:9:
“Be patient… and don’t grumble.”
Life will always bring interruptions, inconveniences, and setbacks. But when our hope is anchored in God, even the unpleasant moments become heaven‑sent opportunities to grow in patience, gratitude, and Christlike character.
And here is the deeper truth for today:
Even in setbacks, you can still praise God.
Praise shifts your focus.
Praise steadies your heart.
Praise keeps you from complaining.
Praise reminds you that God is still in control.
The author challenges us:
Face today’s circumstances through God’s eyes.
When you do, you won’t be rattled when plans change or when life gets messy. Instead of grumbling, you’ll respond with calm, trust, and thanksgiving.
Patience honors God.
Gratitude strengthens you.
Praise transforms the moment.
