Today is St Teresa feast day. Let us pray for her intercession.

Ten years ago today, Mother Teresa officially became St. Teresa of Calcutta.

On Sept. 4, 2016, Pope Francis canonized the founder of the The Missionaries of Charity, recognizing as a saint a woman whose life of service to the poor became known around the world.

Her story also has ties to the Diocese of Brooklyn. Mother Teresa visited Brooklyn several times over the years, including a trip to Bedford-Stuyvesant in the 1990s, leaving lasting memories among Catholics who had the opportunity to meet her.

A decade after her canonization, Catholics around the world continue to look to St. Teresa’s example of seeing Christ in those most in need.
