GCF embraces all those who hold to the Westminster Confession of Faith, Second London Baptist Confession, and Savoy Declaration. Denominational infighting has divided the Reformed Confessional Church and to help remedy that GCF strives to embrace a spirit of unity among Reformed Confessional believers. While we may not agree on every aspect, we are united in the essentials and this unity among pri
mary doctrines is all that is required for fellowship and worship at GCF. We are not saying that "anything goes" and do our best to maintain an orderly service. To this end, we strive to:
1) Return to the tried and true biblical teachings of our church fathers as contained in the various Confessions mentioned above. While we hold to Covenant Theology we will not disparage those views which differ from our own.
2) Return to a traditional service with an emphasis on verse-by-verse teaching through one book at a time. We alternate between the Old and New Testaments and have a well structured order of service. We take communion weekly and administer both believer's baptism and household baptisms as the believer's Confession dictates.
3) Passionately pursue unity within the church by dissolving barriers existing between Reformed Confessional believers.
4) Encourage fathers to lead their families and all family members to embrace the roles God has established for them.
5) Bring children back into the service to worship alongside their parents. We do not offer "children's programs" during worship service but we do provide Catechism lessons for parents to use with their children through the week and conduct a brief Q&A during service.
6) Encourage fellowship through weekly potluck meals and corporate prayer. Fellowship among believers is an often overlooked element of Christian worship. We also provide a "Keepers and Contenders for the Faith" children's program during the week where children can learn valuable life skills.
7) Maintain and defend the literal six day creation position. To become a member of GCF a professing baptized beliver must hold to one of the three historic Confessions mentioned above. We do not force anyone to deviate from their views on baptism to become a member of GCF. If you adhere to the WCF or the Savoy we will baptize your children into the covenant community according to the Confessions. If you are a Reformed Baptist we will wait and baptize your children when they make a credible profession of faith. We may differ on the timing of baptism but we all agree that in order to sit at the Lord's Table one must be a professing baptized believer in Jesus Christ. We believe that the church is to be firm in the essentials and gracious in the non-essentials. We hope to bridge the barriers that exist between the Confessions.
