El Milagro de la Palabra de Dios

Mateo 1:15
Eliud engendró a Eleazar, Eleazar a Matán, y Matán a Jacob.

Mateo continúa por medio de Eliud, Eleazar, Matán y Jacob, acercando cada vez más la genealogía al nacimiento de Jesús. Una vez más, las Escrituras prácticamente no proporcionan información biográfica acerca de estos hombres, pero su presencia en la genealogía demuestra la preservación ininterrumpida de la línea Mesiánica. Mucho después de que el trono de David hubiera desaparecido de Jerusalén y poderes extranjeros gobernaran sobre el pueblo judío, Dios no había olvidado Su promesa de que vendría un Hijo de David para reinar. Lo que exteriormente parecía una casa real olvidada estaba siendo preservado por la mano soberana de Dios hasta la generación exacta en la cual Cristo nacería (2 Samuel 7:12-16; Isaías 9:6-7; 11:1; Jeremías 23:5-6).

Estas generaciones avanzaban constantemente hacia Jesucristo, en quien toda promesa concerniente al Redentor venidero encontraría su cumplimiento. Cristo vino no solamente para ocupar el trono de David, sino primero para ir a la Cruz y llevar a cabo la obra necesaria para Redimir al hombre caído del pecado. De la misma manera, el creyente debe comprender que la obra de Dios en nuestra vida CADA DÍA se lleva a cabo por medio de la dependencia de Cristo y no mediante la confianza en nosotros mismos. Tomar la Cruz diariamente significa negar al yo como el medio de victoria y mantener continuamente nuestra Fe en Cristo y en Su Obra Consumada. Mientras permanecemos identificados por Fe con Su muerte y Resurrección (Romanos 6:11), el Espíritu Santo obra muerte dentro de nosotros (2 Corintios 4:11-12), haciendo morir las obras del cuerpo y produciendo progresivamente el carácter de Cristo en nuestras vidas. Nuestra parte es la Fe en la provisión prescrita por Dios; la obra transformadora pertenece al Espíritu (Lucas 9:23; Romanos 6:6-14; 8:11-13; Gálatas 2:20; 5:16-25; Filipenses 2:13).

The Miracle of God’s Word

Matthew 1:15
And Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob;

Matthew continues through Eliud, Eleazar, Matthan, and Jacob, bringing the genealogy increasingly close to the birth of Jesus. Once again, Scripture provides virtually no biographical information concerning these men, but their presence in the genealogy demonstrates the uninterrupted preservation of the Messianic line. Long after David’s throne had disappeared from Jerusalem and foreign powers ruled over the Jewish people, God had not forgotten His promise that a Son of David would come and reign. What seemed outwardly like a forgotten royal house was being preserved by the sovereign hand of God until the exact generation in which Christ would be born. (2 Samuel 7:12-16; Isaiah 9:6-7, 11:1; Jeremiah 23:5-6).

These generations were moving steadily toward Jesus Christ, in whom every promise concerning the coming Redeemer would find its fulfillment. Christ came not merely to occupy David’s throne, but first to go to the Cross and accomplish the work necessary to Redeem fallen man from sin. The believer must likewise understand that God’s work in our lives DAILY is accomplished through dependence upon Christ rather than confidence in ourselves. To take up the Cross daily is to deny self as the means of victory and continually maintain our Faith in Christ and His Finished Work. As we remain identified by Faith with His death and Resurrection (Romans 6;11), the Holy Spirit works death within us (2 Corinthians 4:11-12), putting to death the deeds of the body and progressively producing the character of Christ in our lives. Our part is Faith in God’s prescribed provision; the transforming work belongs to the Spirit. (Luke 9:23; Romans 6:6-14, 8:11-13; Galatians 2:20, 5:16-25; Philippians 2:13).

El Milagro de la Palabra de Dios

Azor engendró a Sadoc, Sadoc a Aquim, y Aquim a Eliud.

Azor, Sadoc, Aquim y Eliud pertenecen a otra parte mayormente silenciosa de la genealogía Mesiánica. Las Escrituras prácticamente no nos proporcionan historia personal acerca de estos hombres, sin embargo, sus nombres han sido preservados porque cada uno ocupó un lugar en el linaje que conducía a Jesucristo. Reyes y reinos se levantaron y cayeron alrededor de ellos, pero Dios continuó llevando adelante Su promesa de una generación a otra. Su inclusión nos recuerda que la historia de la Redención no fue preservada solamente por medio de profetas, sacerdotes y reyes famosos, sino también a través de generaciones de personas acerca de quienes se conoce muy poco (Génesis 49:10; 2 Samuel 7:16; Isaías 9:6-7; Miqueas 5:2).

Estas generaciones aparentemente sin acontecimientos extraordinarios nos recuerdan que la obra de Dios no se mide únicamente por lo que puede verse exteriormente. Su propósito avanzaba constantemente hacia Jesucristo y hacia la gran obra Redentora que Él llevaría a cabo en la Cruz, aun cuando parecía haber poca evidencia visible de que la promesa de Dios estuviera avanzando. Este mismo principio también se aplica a nuestro caminar diario. Tomar la Cruz CADA DÍA significa negar el yo CADA DÍA y continuar descansando nuestra Fe en Cristo y en Su Obra Consumada, aun durante temporadas en las que vemos poca evidencia externa de progreso espiritual. Nuestra responsabilidad no es fabricar crecimiento espiritual mediante el esfuerzo propio, sino permanecer identificados por Fe con Cristo en Su muerte. Mientras nuestra Fe permanece anclada allí, al Espíritu Santo se le da la libertad legal para obrar dentro de nosotros, conformándonos progresivamente a Cristo y produciendo el fruto que la carne jamás puede producir (Lucas 9:23; Romanos 6:6-14; 8:2-4, 29; 2 Corintios 4:10-11; Gálatas 2:20; 5:16, 22-25).

The Miracle of God’s Word

And Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud;

Azor, Sadoc, Achim, and Eliud belong to another largely silent portion of the Messianic genealogy. Scripture gives us virtually no personal history concerning these men, yet their names have been preserved because each occupied a place in the lineage leading to Jesus Christ. Kings and kingdoms rose and fell around them, but God continued carrying His promise forward from one generation to another. Their inclusion reminds us that the history of Redemption was not preserved merely through famous prophets, priests, and kings, but also through generations of people about whom very little is known. (Genesis 49:10; 2 Samuel 7:16; Isaiah 9:6-7; Micah 5:2).

These seemingly uneventful generations remind us that God’s work is not measured merely by what can be seen outwardly. His purpose was steadily advancing toward Jesus Christ, whose coming would culminate in His death at Calvary and His Resurrection, accomplishing the Redemption promised throughout Scripture. This also has a practical application to our daily walk. Taking up the Cross DAILY means denying self DAILY and continuing to rest our Faith in Christ and His Finished Work even during seasons when we see little outward evidence of spiritual progress. Our responsibility is not to manufacture spiritual growth through self-effort, but to remain identified by Faith with Christ in His death. As our Faith remains anchored there, the Holy Spirit is given the legal latitude to work within us, progressively conforming us to Christ and producing the fruit that cannot be produced by the flesh. (Luke 9:23; Romans 6:6-14, 8:2-4, 29; 2 Corinthians 4:10-11; Galatians 2:20, 5:16, 22-25).
