First Presbyterian Church of Puyallup

First Presbyterian Church of Puyallup We are a vibrant and inclusive community dedicated to living our mission of reaching up to God, reaching into His word, and reaching out to love and serve.

Join us this Sunday at 10:30 for worship! First Presbyterian Church has always been like a family. We understand deeply what it means to be beloved children of God. We are flawed and far from perfect, but God loves us anyway. We read the Bible, we look out for each other, and we follow the example of Jesus whose arms were, and are, wide open. Through the voice of the Holy Spirit, we hear a calling

to stand with those who have been too long marginalized by both church and culture. This is a place where all are welcomed and affirmed regardless of race or cultural background, sexual orientation or gender identity, deep faith in Jesus or full of doubts and questions. We will be your family! We are learning and growing, and we invite you to learn and grow with us, too.

What a great Pentecost - followed by a fellowship meal. Our worship included an exercise where we passed red, yellow, and orange balls of yarns till everyone in the sanctuary, including on the balcony, was holding on. We also all had red crepe paper to wave. We had readers read the Pentecost reading in French, Koine Greek, Chinese, and English. We had wonderful leadership in our choir and our praise team. It was a joyous day!

Our food pantry is restocked.

But an item to note is that our ECAP program often provides donations to our food pantry. But they are now on Sumner break till September. We will need more donations from our members and friends to keep our food pantry stocked this summer.

We have a Zoom Bible study each Wednesday morning that is from 9:30-10:45 a.m. It is based on the lectionary readings. The two passages that will be read on Sunday are: Numbers 11:24-30 and Acts 2:1-13. In the class we will expand the Acts reading up to verse 21. We will also discuss Psalm 104:24-34, 35b, John 20:19-23, and 1 Corinthians 12:3b-13.

You are welcome to join. You can participate or just listen to the conversation. This will all prepare us for Pentecost this Sunday.
