LOVE AS ACTION, Quaker Public Witness
On Saturday January 17 at 12:00 p.m. Friends, members of other faith communities, and people of conscience will gather for one hour of silent public worship on the Putney Commons.

Our intention is that our presence will give hope to all who see us – to show that we can choose resistance - and remind everyone of our moral obligations to one another.

Signed, sealed, and delivered!
With appreciation for the unflagging care of Putney Friends Meeting, who cooks for the Groundworks Shelter in Brattleboro each month, we wanted to offer some respite to the helpers and brought several casseroles over the river last night in the snow - enough to feed 60 people. Thank you to all who helped make this happen and to all our Friends who express their care on the regular ❤️

"We are a people that follow after those things that make for peace, love and unity; it is our desire that others’ feet may walk in the same, and do deny and bear our testimony against all strife, and wars, and contentions that come from the lusts that war in the members, that war in the soul, which we wait for, and watch for in all people, and love and desire the good of all… Treason, treachery, and false dealing we do utterly deny; false dealing, surmising, or plotting against any creature upon the face of the earth, and speak the truth in plainness, and singleness of heart."

Food for thought:
Let us not forget that violence does not live alone and is not capable of living alone: it is necessarily interwoven with falsehood. Between them lies the most intimate, the deepest of natural bonds. Violence finds its only refuge in falsehood, falsehood its only support in violence. Any man who has once acclaimed violence as his method must inexorably choose falsehood as his principle.
