I am aware that I am stating the obvious - we are cancelling the FOCUS3 support group meeting for this evening. We will plan to meet again on our regularly scheduled time 7pm on Tuesday March 28.
Tonight's self-care lesson is on "Braving the Storms". It is the reminder that good self-care involves making choices that keep us safe. Choices that embrace security, warmth, nourishment, connection with others, and love. It is in the midst of life's storms that we are often prompted to reach out to the "One who calmed the raging winds and seas."
Today many of us were disrupted from our usual routine, travel restricted, and outdoor activities curtailed. What a wonderful opportunity to spend time with the God who loves us so. See today's disruptions as gifts of time to talk with Our Father, with Jesus our Lord and Savior, and with His Holy Spirit who inhabits your soul.
Pick up your Bible - read through a favorite Psalm, Read Mathew 5, or Chapter 13 of Paul's first letter to the Corinthians or whatever favorite verse from Scripture that you are drawn to. Put on a Praise and Worship music.
Pray and meditate - think of what Jesus did for you on the Cross - think of the blessings of your life, the things that you are grateful for - think of answered prayers and healings you have witnessed - think of the miracles in your life and in the lives of those you love.
Sit comfortably and quietly in silence or with soft praise and worship music in the background - whisper the name, Jesus; again whisper the name, Jesus; again whisper the name, Jesus. Slowly breathe in His love, His peace, His Joy and slowly exhale all tension, all worry, all fear, all doubts, all sadness, all guilt, all shame, all regret, all wounds, all hurt, all injury, all sickness and give them to Jesus. Do this again and again, so with each breath you are filled more deeply with the awareness of His Holy Presence living within you, and are releasing more completely all of your emotional and physical pain to be placed at the foot of His Cross, for Jesus to do with as He will. Sit quietly in stillness wait on the Lord. Focus on Jesus, on the Presence of His Holy Spirit, on the Love of the Father.
Experience the transforming power of His grace and His love as you seek to know Him and love Him more deeply. Take 30 minutes today - take shelter from the Storm of life - be with the Almighty God, Creator of All who so desires a personal relationship with each one of you - be with the Father, Jesus Our Lord and Savior, and His Holy Spirit united and abiding in Love. This was my prompting for each of you in today's storm. So we cancelled our meeting but kept our support group training. Stay safe and may God bless You all.
