Here's a question to ponder on today. As a Christian, a follower of Christ, am I doing all that I can for the kingdom of God or am I failing. Now before you get all upset about what I just said ask yourself this, what does it mean to be comfortable, am I comfortable, does it pay to be comfortable? For most of us when we think of being comfortable we think of an easy life, good job, good grades in school, wealthy, money, a nice car, a big house, and anything else we can think of that this world tells us. However though here's the thing sometimes we let our ability or want to be comfortable in this world to overshadow the commandment that we've been given by God. We tell ourselves, our friends, and our family that God wants us to be comfortable. That he wants what is easy for you, he wants you to be happy as in how the world sees it. To have that good job, a good pay, good house nice car, that amazing 401(k) that is what the Lord wants from us at least that is what we tell ourselves at times. We get all caught up in what we want and what we think we need to better ourselves setting herself up for we say is called the good life, the easy life. As Mark Batterson put it in one of his books he says that many of us try to arrive safely at death. Now that's not the exact quote but it hits the same point. If we go through the Bible and we look it all the stories Old Testament, New Testament we see something. We see followers of God who are willing to live uncomfortable lives. As in they don't know where they're going be living, where they might eat, how much money they might make, and so much more. The thing is though that does not bother them they press on moving forward for the glory of the kingdom of God. I think that today sometimes we get the mindset that as long as we are happy we're doing what God wants us to do. That we are in his will. When the reality of it is we are far from it Matthew 28:18-20
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Those verses are Jesus giving us a command, to go out into the world professing the name of Christ. Sharing God's love and kindness everywhere we go. He doesn't say if you want to, or if you feel called not he says as I have commanded you. Nehemiah was the cup bearer for a King. That was a very prestigious job wealthy comfortable easy a high position. He left that position to follow the command given to him by God to go rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. Now I'm not saying there's nothing wrong with having a nice job of a nice car nice house or anything of that. What I'm saying is that maybe we have clouded ourselves with what we want and not what God wants. So so once again back to the question I asked at the beginning as a Christian are you doing all that you can for the kingdom of God or are you failing? Ask yourself that ask yourself if there's more you can do except a there's always more. Many times as a Christian we will say God suffered, died, and was resurrected so that I could be saved and spend eternity with him. I think a lot of times we leave out the next part that should go on to that God suffered, died, and was resurrected so that I too could be saved from this world and spend eternity with him and also in return I could spread the gospel preaching and teaching of God's love this kindness and his hope that he offers for sinners just like me. What are you doing today, are you living out the command that was given to you, or are you just settled with being comfortable?
