God specializes in enabling people to accomplish things in ways that everyone can see wouldn’t have worked apart from His power.

Everything God told the Israelites to do (march, blow horns, yell) had nothing to do with battle strategy or masonry or anything to do at all with defeating Jericho. It made no sense. The only thing that brought those walls down was God.

Moses was not a revolutionary, nor a leader of men, a public speaker, or miracle worker. When God found him, Moses was actively hiding in the desert of Midian, trying not the draw attention to himself. And yet, God made him all of those things.

Jesus took the bread and the fish given freely by a young boy and fed five thousand men with it.

In each case, God demonstrated His ability to use our meager offerings and obedience to literally accomplish anything.

Fun fact, shepherds would have to find places to keep their sheep at night. Sometimes they would have a fold they could take them to, but not always. Shepherds were known to make or find natural strongholds for their sheep while they were traveling in the wilderness from place to place. Sometimes it was open area where the shepherd could keep watch. Other times it might be a cave. But the protection truly came from the shepherd, who made sure the sheep never went without protection.

Maybe you feel a bit exposed, maybe you don’t feel like God is giving you refuge. You might be in an open field, wondering if the Shepherd forgot about you. I promise you He didn’t. God works all things together for the good of those who love Him (Rom. 8:28). He watches over you.

The Power of surrendering our designs of life for Gods, lies in the fact that He is our Creator. He is our designer. He knows what it takes to satisfy you, for you to feel safe, for you feel joy. He can teach us ways of righteousness, His ways, which we were made for. We pervert ourselves chasing after the desires of our heart, the things weve been convinced are great, will give us pleasure, will give us what we need. But they wont. God’s Word says, let me teach and convince you that these things if righteousness are better and youll be transformed, youll receive a new heart. A heart that feels, that has compassion, that is full of love. A heart that desires truth, and fights for justice, that is clear and drawn to what is right. The heart of God.
