Imagine a kings courtroom. The many court members of the court are gathered, hearing the various matters before the King, recording His decisions, making plans to carry them out, etc. The room is full of the weight of the important matters and dignity of the King.

Then some one brings up your needs and asks, not just for generic help or pity, but exactly what you need. You wouldn't have even known what to ask for, and they've just not only solved the problem, but cared enough about it to bring it up themselves with out being asked. The way the request is presented to the Court is so profound that words cannot express the passion, and comprehensive nature, of the request. How did they even know?

Then you realize, it's the King Himself who made the request.

The level on which God gets and loves you exceeds all human capacity.

The Man on the middle cross said I could come…

Allistair Begg did a great imagining of the believing thief on the cross, who died beside Jesus, said when he got to heaven. He used humor to describe quite a perplexing scenario unfolding in Heaven as the angels at the gate receiving the thief on the cross are very confused. The reality is that they were not confused, but Allistairs point is correct…. When asked why he was there, the thief had only one answer. So do we.

Two thieves died beside Christ that day. One blasphemed Him, one surrendered to Him. Which one will you be?

“39 Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, “If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.”
40 But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.” 42 Then he said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.”
43 And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.” (Luke 23:39–43, NKJV”

Someday you may have doubts. You will wonder if God really wanted you to go down the road you did. You will wonder if God really understands what is best for you in your situation. You may even wonder if you’ve imagined this whole faith experience.

Remember this.

We serve a God who is real. When the disicples doubted and feared God in the flesh in front of them, He proved himself to them.

Historians all agree Jesus really existed. His disciples were really who they said they were and they died destitute in horrific ways refusing to renounce they had seen the risen Christ perform everything claimed in their writings. The people they recorded as being present as witnesses, were still around when those books were written so people could talk to them and see if they agreed the accounts were true. They did.

If Jesus really lived and did the things the disciples claimed, then Jesus really is who He claimed to be. And if He really is who He claimed to be then we have no reason to doubt or fear, and every reason to continue the fight till we win or see Jesus.

Soldier on.

When God chooses someone for His service, He puts them through trials, training and teaching them, and then they are revealed as glorious servants of the High King Christ. Engaged in His service, their exploits bring honor to their King and reveal His desires and character to the world.

If you are struggling in trial today, if God is testing and training you, then, Brothers and Sisters, rejoice in your selection. It is the highest honor.

Today we need to remember the principles behind the power we see in Christianity.

If we repent and confess Christ as Lord and Savior, we are immediately possessed by the Holy Spirit and by God. We are His.

It is this simple transaction that connects us to the Spirit of God and what a connection that is!

Historically speaking, when the Spirit of God “came upon” someone… crazy stuff happened. Stuff that was supernatural.

This is the power that lies inside of every believer who has put their trust in Him. Not to do whatever they want, but to do the great works of God. We don’t always know what those are, because we still see with earthly lustful eyes. We still desire sinful things and we can’t comprehend the infinitely cascading and interacting effects of our lives on those around us.

Be encouraged. Take heart. The spirit of the one true God lives in you and He is unstoppable.
