ARE YOU A FLASHLIGHT OR BONFIRE?

Matthew 5:14-16

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

As Christians, we are called on to be lights in the world. However, what type of light are right now? Do we act as flashlights, only turned on for a specific purpose and then put away? Or do we act as bonfires , always shining and inviting all those around us to see the light and to come to be warmed. It can be scary to be a Christian, particularly with the fears of persecution and rejection; so many people like to be flashlights. We like to be flashlights when it was convenient for us, but not when it could be dangerous. However, God asks us to shine before all men, not to shine when it is easy and safe for us. We need to move on from being flashlights and become bonfires that shine for me all around the world. We need to be bonfires that spread the light for men all around the world. We need to be bonfires that spread the light of the Gospel to all. If you decide to take this step forward then remember this: God will be with you in everything.

The Ultimate Demonstration

The most powerful expression of Jesus’ love is His sacrifice on the cross. While humanity was still in sin, Christ gave His life to reconcile us with God, showing that His is not conditional on our perfection
(Romans 5:8, John 15:1) This act of selfless love sets the standard for how we are called to love others, emphasizing sacrificial care and service.

God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.
5 Every day they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil.
6 They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul.
7 Shall they escape by iniquity? in thine anger cast down the people, O God.
8 Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?
9 When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me.
10 In God will I praise his word: in the LORD will I praise his word.
11 In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.
12 Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render praises unto thee.
13 For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?
