Behind The Scenes.

Especially in today's world it can be a tough space to hang out, work, or live in.

Mainly because it often consists of doing all of the little things right that you KNOW no one will see to ensure success for yourself and others.

Sacrificing more time, commitment, and resources than anyone will ever imagine or understand and will probably never see.

Completing small task after small task without seeing any substantial gains.

It can be overwhelming and discouraging.

BUT KNOW THAT IT IS ESSENTIAL.

It will often leave you wondering…

Is it worth it?

Doing all of the small things with all of your heart.

Does what I'm doing MATTER?

WILL IT MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

Internally, you know the answer is yes.

But externally you struggle because you're focusing on everyone else's highlight reels that they post online or flaunt to the world in public.

You just want even an ounce of gratification or appreciation from others.

Just a simple acknowledgement of what you're doing to release that dopamine.

But you know you're not going to get it, at least not today, or probably anytime soon.

So you have a choice.

PIVOT to something else where you can get the external praise that we humans crave KNOWING it may not be in anyone's best interest and will more than likely take you away from God's calling…. (Doesn't sound to great)

Or you can press on and do the will of God.

Seeking to only honor Him with every task that you do.

Big or small.

Public or private.

With a smile on your face and grace in your heart.

Knowing that you're choosing to follow the path of God rather than seeking the praise of people.

God's will isn't always flashy but it is well thought out and efficient. He does see you.

He knows your heart.

He sees your motive.

He will acknowledge your effort in due time.

What you do behind the scenes isn't always glamorous.

But IT IS ESSENTIAL.

DON’T LOSE HOPE.

WORK HARD.

HONOR GOD.

Remember, oftentimes it's the smallest tasks that no one sees that lead to the biggest impacts on HIS Kingdom.

“The master was full of praise. ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!”

(Matthew 25:21)

“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.”

(Zechariah 4:10)

Running an Ultra marathon was probably one of the hardest things I've ever done.

I wanted to quit so many times.

I got lost.

My feet got wet.

Blisters that felt like the skin was gone on my toes.

So many people passed me that I knew I was close to last place.

4 laps. 7.5 miles each.

After each one I had a choice.

Just like we do in life when things get hard.

I could stop and say I tried my best.

Or I could PRESS ON and do one more lap.

I could be short sighted and give up.

Or i could be mission focused and keep moving.

The goal. 31 miles.

ACHIEVABLE I JUST HAD TO NOT QUIT.

Fast forward over 8.5 hours later.

I crossed the finish line.

With my wife and wife by my side.

Outcome achieved. Weight lifted. Lesson passed on to my family that applies to us all.

BREAKTHROUGH IS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF NOT GIVING UP.

I know you're tired.

I know the devil has thrown obstacles your way that makes you think your goal is out of reach.

But just keep moving. One foot in front of the other.

Talking to and trusting God every step of the way and you'll cross that finish line. You'll achieve that goal.

You just have to trust God and keep moving.

Faith is a VERB.

Get living. Keep trusting.

Let God do his thing.

Stay focused and cross that finish line!

“ Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”

(Hebrews 12: 1-2)

I recently asked someone during an outreach event how it was going.

They gave a simple one word answer that caught me off guard.

“FORWARD”.

WOW.

That's good stuff.

And intentional.

This person made the decision that the only way to move, live, and look was forward.

No dwelling on the past.

No being held back by the person you used to be.

No letting the shackles of regret consume you.

Just a simple and intentional choice to look forward to what's in front of you and make the most of what's ahead.

Have a bad day yesterday?

Leave it behind you and start fresh.

Passed up for a job you wanted?

Leave it behind and work towards the next opportunity.

Your child drive you crazy the night before?

Leave it behind and look FORWARD to starting fresh the next day.

Progess and growth across all aspects of life doesn't occur if we linger in the past.

Progress and growth happens when we realize we can't change what happened but we can LEARN FROM IT MOVING FORWARD.

Don't let Satan get you stuck in the past of regret.

Look FORWARD to the blessings that God has in store for your life.

Set goals.

Work every day to move one step FORWARD.

The progress you make may be slow.

BUT IT'S PROGRESS!

“Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil”

(Proverbs 4:25-27)

Give while you can.

To who you can.

When God says you should.

If you get that inkling, that holy spirit tingle to help someone go do it.

Don't try to rationalize it.

Don't post about it.

Don't tell your friends.

JUST GIVE.

You may not know why.

The person that you're blessing may not even know at the time.

But there's a reason that God laid it on your heart.

Don't hesitate.

Don't ask yourself what’s in it for me.

Just do it.

You won't regret it.

And you'll definitely bless someone (and yourself) more than you can measure.

I've been on both ends, giving and receiving.

Both times I've cried tears of joy.

The world has enough selfish people in it already.

Give selflessness a try.

Nothing speaks of Christ's love more than giving without expectation.

Nothing shows Christ's love more than meeting someone where they're at and saying I just felt I was supposed to do this for you.

Small gestures. HUGE outcomes.

Give it a try!!!

“Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
2 “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.
3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,
4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you”

(Matthew 6:1-4)

The Comfort Zone.

It’s a WILD place to be.

Is it a bad place to hang out?

THAT DEPENDS.

Should you stick around in it for a while?

ABSOLUTELY

Comfort allows you to BREATHE. To sit back and enjoy your accomplishments and hard work.

To take time and marvel at what God has blessed you with.

HOWEVER.

Comfort can also prevent you from taking the risks that you need to in order to fulfill your calling to do God's will.

AND THAT CAN BE SCARY.

Think about it. When you’re comfortable you don’t want to move. You risk BECOMING STAGNANT.

YOU RISK NOT GROWING.

Good Opportunity comes your way? No thanks, I’m comfortable.

Get that nudge from God to do something different? No thanks, I’m comfortable.

Feel that nagging sensation that something needs to give in your circumstances, but don’t want to take that first step BECAUSE YOU’RE TOO COMFORTABLE?

That’s when the comfort zone becomes a problem.

Feel that urge by God to call to check in on a friend, but you don’t want to press pause on your TV show or take the 20 minutes to do it?

That’s when the comfort zone becomes a problem.

When we’re too afraid to take the next step because it would lead us to stepping out of what WE KNOW into SOMETHING WE DON’T and that SCARES US.

THAT’S WHEN THE COMFORT ZONE BECOMES A PROBLEM

When you pray to God and ask for doors to open but you don’t want to do the work to walk through the doors that he opened.

THAT’S WHEN THE COMFORT ZONE BECOMES A PROBLEM.

SO what’s the SOLUTION?

Put your trust in GOD.

When you Pray to HIM he’ll give you what you need and put that nudge on your heart to move.

WHEN YOU HEAR HIM, WHEN YOU FEEL THAT NUDGE, MOVE!

Enjoy what God has given you, but never stop trusting him and his perfect plan.

REMEMBER. Christianity is a VERB.

WE CAN’T GROW IF WE DON’T GO when we’re called.

Which means, you must be prepared to be a little uncomfortable for a bit to experience that ultimate comfort of the calling that God is growing you into.

“Hathak went back and reported to Esther what Mordecai had said. 10 Then she instructed him to say to Mordecai, 11 “All the king’s officials and the people of the royal provinces know that for any man or woman who approaches the king in the inner court without being summoned the king has but one law: that they be put to death unless the king extends the gold scepter to them and spares their lives. But thirty days have passed since I was called to go to the king.”

12 When Esther’s words were reported to Mordecai, 13 he sent back this answer: “Do not think that because you are in the king’s house you alone of all the Jews will escape. 14 For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”

15 Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai: 16 “Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.”

17 So Mordecai went away and carried out all of Esther’s instructions.”
