**Church Fast- New Creature Journey**
Beginning this Monday and continuing through Friday, we will be participating in two intentional fasts together.
1. Social Media Fast (Monday–Friday)
We will be fasting from all social media platforms for five days.
This is not simply about removing an app — it is about reclaiming attention.
Studies consistently show that excessive social media use can:
- Increase anxiety and comparison-driven thinking
- Shorten attention span and reduce focus
- Disrupt sleep patterns
- Stimulate dopamine cycles that create compulsive scrolling habits
- Heighten emotional reactivity and mental fatigue
Social media is designed to capture and hold attention. Over time, constant notifications, scrolling, and digital stimulation can fragment our ability to think deeply, pray consistently, and remain present.
This week, we are choosing quiet over noise.
Presence over distraction.
Depth over constant consumption.
Let this fast create space for clarity, peace, and spiritual attentiveness.
2. 6-Hour Midday Fast (Monday–Friday)
We will also participate in a daily 6-hour fast centered around your usual lunch time.
Here’s how it works:
Take your normal lunch time and fast for three hours before and three hours after.
For example:
If you normally eat lunch at 12:00 PM, your fast would run from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
During those six hours:
- No food
- Drink water as needed
- Use hunger as a reminder to pray
This fast is about discipline and dependence. Each hunger cue becomes a prompt to turn your thoughts toward God.
If you have medical conditions or health concerns, please use wisdom and adjust as necessary.
Both fasts are invitations — not punishment. They are tools to quiet the flesh and sharpen spiritual sensitivity.
Prepare your heart now. Make the necessary adjustments. Let this week reset your focus.
We begin Monday.
