We’re excited about this big project! WayHouse Media
People of the Way (Website coming soon!)
The early Christians used Jesus’s own words in John 14:6 to self-describe themselves as people “the Way.” Before there was even a New Testament, the people of “the Way” started a movement that changed history. They were mostly understood at the time to be a sect of Judaism. They were Jews in the sense that Jesus, their God, was the new way in which their faith was to continue. He was not only the prophesied Messiah, He was also the New Adam, the New Moses, and the New Israel. He was and is “the Way” forward, for Jews and Gentiles alike.
With this in consideration, we want to best answer and live out the question, “How can we be people of ‘the Way’ in our modern world?” To answer, we need to have an open dialogue with one another.
We think it’s time to get back to being people of “the Way.” To do this, hard questions will need to be asked, evaluation of the church will need to take place, and we must be willing to rethink our strong held thoughts, beliefs, and habits.
Something is obviously wrong. Churches are swapping out the same 30-40%, while 60-70% of people in our nation are being ignored. Much (not all) of the institutionalized church has become a Christian business where only the coolest lights or hippest speaker takes the spoil. We want to be different; we want to find and love the 60-70%, just as Jesus would.
We don’t want to just encourage people to hold services; we want encourage people to serve.
While we see plenty of errors with the American Church, we still want to remain united under the banner of Christ’s love. We want to invite all to come along with us in our pursuit of following Jesus in the fight for truth, love, mercy, and justice.
We cannot do this alone. Our community with one another will assist us in our desire to see God move in our nation and around the world.
At WayHouse, we hope that through the conversations we start–via articles, videos, or podcasts–you would be willing to think through each issue and continue the conversation with your peers in your own community.
The goal is purely to become better followers of Jesus.
We are more than just Christians; we are PEOPLE OF THE WAY!
