THANKFUL THURSDAY | 8.13.2020
God’s power is perfected in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). This is something that I have had to remind myself often. There are moments in my ministry where I have caught myself doubting my ability to lead, that I have heard the enemy whispering fear and declaring that I am weak. Then in the midst of these thoughts I am reminded of Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians 2:1-5,
“When I came to you, brothers and sisters, I did not come with eloquence or superior wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.”
When we are faced with fear, when we are blinded by our own desires and weaknesses, remember this – the Holy Spirit will provide you with the strength, the power, and the wisdom to complete the job before you. When we try to do it all in our own strength, we will approach the job in a way that provides us with fulfillment instead of fulfilling the calling He has placed on our lives. Look to God, trust in Him, and know that He is MORE than ENOUGH! I certainly do not want others to rest on my own wisdom; I want them to see the power of the Holy Spirit working through me.
