Scenes from today’s special Blue Mass, held in solemn remembrance of all affected by 9/11 and in prayerful gratitude for the first responders who continue to serve, protect, and sacrifice for others. On behalf of Fr. Dietrich and staff, we extend our heartfelt thanks to the first responders who joined and participated in the Mass, Alan our organist, the St. Anthony’s Choir, our altar servers, Lucas and Micah Minicucci, and all who gathered with us. May we never forget those we lost, those who served, and the enduring courage of those answer the call. ❤️

PLEASE SHARE! St. Anthony Church of Prospect (4 Union City Rd.) will have First Responders participating in a special “Blue Mass” to mark the 25th anniversary of 9/11 this Friday, September 11, 2026, 8:00 a.m. We hope you will join us as we invoke God’s blessings on all First Responders.

The tradition of celebrating a Blue Mass honoring firefighters and police officers began on September 29th, 1934, by Rev. Thomas Dade who founded the Catholic Police and Fireman’s Society. The first Mass was held in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Washington, D.C., and coincided with the feast of St. Michael the Archangel, the patron saint of police officers and military.

All are welcome to come to pray and honor our nation’s firefighters, police, and emergency medical teams who gave their lives to save others that terrible day, and who today risk their lives every day for our safety.

THIS WEEKEND! September 5th and 6th, 2026, Fr. Dietrich begins a monthly homily series on the History of the Mass!
At the Last Supper Jesus instituted the Holy Eucharist as the memorial of His death and Resurrection to perpetuate the Sacrifice of the Cross until He comes again in glory. To further our understanding and love for the Mass, the weekend of September 5-6 will begin a monthly series on the history of the Mass, examining the Church's celebration and its historical development. Fr. Dietrich will preach and provide printed material to supplement the homily. Future dates will be announced in advance and published in the bulletin and email newsletter (links for both are on our website), so stay tuned and plan to join us!

Please enjoy these photos from some wonderful moments last weekend. We had our back to school\backpack blessings and our Confirmation students had their retreat and Mass. Thank you to everyone who came out to support and pray for our students. It is a beautiful thing to witness our parish family supporting our students, teachers and parents by lifting them up in prayer as they begin a new school year and prepare for Confirmation. ❤️
