Please enjoy these pictures from our farewell gathering in honor of Pastor Dennis and Joy Mortimore.

Unfortunately Joy was not feeling strong enough to come, much to her disappointment and ours, but she sent a letter to share her heart and love with us.

Thank you to all who came and took a moment to express appreciation to our pastor of 11 years. He and Joy have been an integral part of our community in Prospect and we already miss them so very much.

Dennis and Joy are semi-moved into their new🏡 home in Grants Pass and will be busy getting settled for some time. Their sadness at leaving Prospect is mIngled with anticipation of what God's new plans for them in retirement holds! Every chapter is a gift. 🎁 These precious people have been a gift to us, a gift from God, and we thank them and our heavenly Fafher who sent them to love, care for, minister to, and live in our community these years. Hello Church Family,

Our beloved Pastor Dennis Mortimore has fulfilled his 10 year commitment to serve as pastor of Prospect Church of the Nazarene, otherwise known as "Church in the Pines," with a bonus year. We are so grateful. Dennis submitted his letter of resignation and his last Sunday with us will be July 31.

Joy is dealing with ongoing health issues and Pastor has our ful support in his desire to be there for his wife and enjoy spending time with her. As he often says, "Joy is my Queen Bee!"

Dennis and Joy have served our church and the community of Prospect for 11 years in very concrete ways, including facilitating a food pantry, being involved with the football team and other school activities, visiting shut-ins, and making trips to town to visit members of the church and community who were in the hospital.

He and Joy have blessed Prospect in far too many ways to list. The physical improvements Dennis made to the church building and grounds comprise another very long list! Everything from minor cosmetic improvements to structural and foundational projects that required wisdom and fortitude to navigate. His engineeering background was frequently called into service in various ways!

We are so grateful for Dennis and Joy's love, care, and compassion for the community of Prospect. They have blessed us greatly.

Please keep them in your prayers as they move into this new chapter, with all the decisions that need to be made, as well as for God to bless them both. And come to church! Pastor would love to see you before he goes.

The weather didn't cooperate for an outdoor BBQ in honor of Memorial Day on Sunday, that's okay! We still had a great combined church service with our congregation and Refuge Church.

And we moved lunch inside! It was great to see so many people and I (Michele Pryse) didn't manage to get everyone photographed, but here's what I did catch.

Big thank you to Dave and Cathy for "manning" the grill and cooking about 80 burgers + hot dogs!

Going forward pastors of both churches are planning to hold a combined service with lunch every time there is a 5th Sunday in a month. Won't that be fun?!

Once a month Joyce, our mission board representative, shares a report about missions projects our church is involved in. She also gives us a lot of encouragement about being missionaries in our everyday life - wherever God puts us. Thank you, Joyce!

Please keep Pastor Dennis and Joy in your prayers as both are dealing with illness and health issues.

Pastor Jerry Miranda and his wife Loretta visited with us on Sunday and we were blessed to have them.
