This Friday and Saturday, the Metropolitan Chicago Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (MCS/ELCA) gathers as rostered and lay leaders in Synod Assembly. We gather in fellowship for worship, for informative workshops, and to elect a new Synod Bishop.

The MCS/ELCA Synod Assembly may be seen in livestream on the Synod website here https://mcselca.org

The Synod website has detailed information on the schedule, workshops, Bishop candidate bios and the election process.

The Pastor and two delegates will attend representing Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.

Please keep all those assembling in your prayers:

Holy one, you are a God who speaks to us and through us. We gather by the call of the Holy Spirit in community, unified by the Good News of Jesus Christ. As we begin the process of electing a new bishop for the Metropolitan Chicago Synod, calm our minds and open our hearts. We all have opinions, needs, and dreams for this church. Give us courage to speak from the heart, patience to listen carefully, and the wisdom to discern your will. Through Jesus Christ who is our hope. Amen.

Come to worship this Sunday as we celebrate Pentecost and the gift of the Holy Spirit. We recall the presence of the Spirit in our baptismal waters and in the earthly elements of Holy Communion in the bread and the wine.

As Jesus breathes the Holy Spirit into us, our faith is enlivened, and we are called to proclaim the mission of Jesus in His message of peace, justice and God's love for all of His creation.
Come, Holy Spirit.

All are Welcome!
Everyone is a Neighbor!!

In this week's Gospel, John 14:15-21, we have a "Prelude to Pentecost" as Jesus prepares His disciples for life without Him. Come to church and hear about the Paraclete (No....Not parakeet!).
See how the Holy Spirit enlivens our faith, as the Spirit walks alongside us and guides us in continuing the work of Jesus.
See you in church at 9:30.
All are Welcome!

Maundy: from the Latin mandatum, the origin of the English word mandate, meaning an absolute commandment.
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you should love one another.” (John 13:34)
As He washes our feet, Christ teaches that we should serve all with humility and love.
We recall our Savior’s horrific and humiliating death on the Cross, as we witness the stripping of the altar, just as Christ was stripped for crucifixion.
Maundy Thursday 7:00 p.m. worship with Holy Communion and foot and hand washing.
All are welcome

A prayer from Pastor Ann Gonyea for Ash Wednesday and Lent:

Faithful God, you meet me in the wilderness of my life. When I am hungry, give me your word. When I am dry, give me living water. When I am in darkness, be my light. Where I am blind, give me sight. Where I am weary, give me rest. Where I feel buried, call me into life. Unbind me from fear and shame. Turn my testing into trust, my resistance into obedience, my death into your life. I place my hope not in myself but in your mercy and grace. Lead me this day from wilderness to water, from blindness to sight, from grave to life. Amen.
