Good wisdom for the times we are living in! Guard your hearts against deception.
As you’re scrolling through social media reels, you may see a woman saying that you can have whatever you want if you just follow her method. This could be a temptation, especially if you’re desperate for healing, money, or love.
Witchcraft used to hide in the shadows, but now it’s rebranded as Wicca. Social media influencers promote Wicca as a trendy new way to get your heart’s desires, but it’s really the same old dangerous witchcraft and sorcery.
I was involved with Wicca before I was saved, and I previously experienced its lure. Wiccan ideas are promoted under trendy names like “manifestation,” “energy healing,” “spiritual wellness,” or “self-empowerment.” The practices are marketed as harmless tools to help people gain health, wealth, peace, and love. Yet behind the attractive language are the condemned and dangerous practices of sorcery, conjuring, divination, and witchcraft.
For example, manifestation or “magick” teaches that you can attract money, relationships, or health by praying to goddesses and focusing your thoughts and intentions. In traditional witchcraft this was called ‘spell work’ and it does seem to work because demons are using it to lure people in. The idea is that humans can influence spiritual forces to shape reality. Yet God’s Word teaches us to trust the Lord with our lives instead of trying to predict or control the future ourselves (Proverbs 3:5-6).
‘Energy healing’ is another doorway into occult spirituality. Practices involving idolatry, auras, vibrations, or spiritual symbols are presented as natural wellness methods. Yet these ideas come from occult teachings that claim people can manipulate unseen spiritual forces. Scripture warns us to avoid divination and sorcery because these practices invite demons and are attempts to seek spiritual power apart from Him (Deuteronomy 18:10-12).
Wicca is also marketed as a path to empowerment, especially to women. Phrases like “step into your power,” “awaken the goddess within,” “divine feminine,” or “trust your inner wisdom” sound appealing. Yet they echo the same temptation spoken by the serpent in the Garden that humans can become like God (Genesis 3:5).
These teachings also promise peace and harmony through aligning with Gaia or the universe. Yet the Bible teaches that real peace doesn’t come from spiritual techniques or cosmic energies. True peace comes from being reconciled to God through Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1).
The promises of Wicca may sound attractive and they may seem to work, yet they lead people away from the only true Source of life and peace. God’s Word reminds us that there’s only one mediator between God and humanity: Jesus Christ (1 Timothy 2:5).
The Bible also warns that sorcerers will be cast into eternal torment and not be allowed into the New Heaven and New Earth (Revelation 21:8, 22:15) These passages remind us that occult practices are serious sins that separate people from God. The good news of the Gospel is that anyone who turns from these practices and trusts in Jesus Christ can be forgiven and made new.
Instead of seeking power or answers through occult practices, we’re called to trust the Lord and find our peace in Him.
