“Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken.”
Psalm 55:22
Here we receive a promise, the stability and a unshaken, unmoved walk for the righteous.
Who is righteous or what is righteousness? For our own efforts and works prove to be futile. Isaiah states that the righteous of men are like filth rags (Is. 64:6). Yet we see that Abraham obtained righteousness. So what was it that defined Abraham as righteous? It was not works or status of heritage nor anything that he or any other person could have obtain for him or on his own. As it is stated in Romans 4:2-3, Abraham “believed in God and it was accredited to him as righteousness.” Therefore, the righteousness that is qualified in receiving the promise made above, is that of faith in God. A trust that He will uphold you, a belief that He is who He states He is, and a confession of submitting to His will and authority (Romans 10:3-10).
So, know that you can lay your troubles, worries, and issues before the Lord, for He will sustain you. He will not let you slip and fall, for if you believe in Him, you are His righteous. Not obtained by human effort but by faith. So whatever you are going through, trust Him with it for He is faithful. He is a God that can not lie who promises to sustain us and causes the righteous not to be shaken.
