The First Baptist Church of Princeton

The First Baptist Church of Princeton The Church with the open doors where hearts are healed, souls are saved, and God is praised! We are working earnestly to become a city on a hill.

Our church has a vision for inviting, developing, and sending God's people. We are a teaching church that partners with both Princeton Theological Seminary and New Brunswick Theological Seminary to build up and equip capable and committed ministers of the gospel. We have heard the call to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and house the homeless at home and abroad. We are at work in Malawi Africa

and our surrounding community to educate and encourage God's children in a sometimes challenging and dark world.

Sunday, we gathered to celebrate Rev. Maureen Gerald’s first pastoral anniversary and give thanks for a year marked by vision, growth, and radical re-imagining.

What a joyful and inspiring occasion it was. Together, we reflected on a year of renewed ministry, new opportunities, and faithful leadership. We were encouraged and empowered to move forward as we shared exciting news about a major legacy and history project that will help preserve and tell the story of First Baptist Church of Princeton for generations to come.

The celebration was made even more special by the presence of longtime friends, ministry partners, family members, and a few meaningful surprises along the way. The worship experience was enriched by the powerful ministry of Revelation Liturgical Dance, and we were honored to receive an inspiring charge from Rev. Dr. Peter J. Paris. His wisdom and challenge reminded us of the importance of carrying our faith, witness, and ministry into the future with courage and conviction.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, served, prayed, supported, and celebrated. Your presence helped make this anniversary a meaningful reflection of the love, appreciation, and strength of this congregation.

As we look ahead, we are grateful for Pastor Maureen’s leadership and excited for all that God has in store for the next chapter of ministry together.

In the case of Pentecost:

Joel declared that old men would dream dreams and young men would see visions, and Acts shows us what happens when Heaven moves at the right time. Fearful people became bold. Waiting turned into movement. Hidden purpose became visible.

I think many of us are living in that tension right now — carrying dreams we’ve questioned, delayed, or almost let go of. But Pentecost teaches us that God’s timing is intentional. Delay does not always mean denial. Sometimes God is preparing us for what we prayed for.

We are honored to announce the first Commission Sunday at First Baptist Church Princeton — establishing a new tradition in the life of our ministry rooted in recognition, affirmation, discernment, validation, and commissioning.

Join us on Sunday, May 31st at our 10:30 AM worship service for this sacred and historic moment as we install new leaders, honor those whose terms of service have been faithfully completed, and affirm those who have accepted their call to ministry.

Together, we will celebrate the dedication, growth, and spiritual commitment of those helping shape the future of our ministry and community. We are also honored to welcome Rev. Dr. Adkins Jones, affectionately known to many as Pastor Tim, as our guest preacher for this special occasion. He will also lead a special discussion and Q&A conversation for theological and faith leaders from across the community, creating space for dialogue, learning, and engagement around faith, preaching, leadership, and the work of the church in this generation.
