Today the Church celebrates the Feast of St. Thomas the Apostle. Thomas is most famous for doubting the word of Jesus' appearance on Easter Sunday, proclaimed to him by the other disciples. The following Sunday, after being allowed to touch the wounds in Jesus' glorified flesh, Thomas gave the church her great acclamation: "My Lord, and my God!" For centuries, The faithful have breathed out this confession at the celebration of the Holy Communion with regard to the holy body and precious blood of the Lord. After Pentecost Thomas is said to have travelled to India to preach the Gospel. Tradition holds that he was martyred by being run through with a spear. Thanks be to God for His faithful servant, St. Thomas!

Amen.
