Music for October 18, 2026 – 21st Sunday after Pentecost
This Sunday at our 10:30 a.m. service, we will admit as full choristers two singers who have finished their first level of training. This is a joyful occasion, where we celebrate the hard work, dedication, and skill of our young musicians. It will also be the first service that a number of our novices (first-year choristers) will sing.
As a celebration of all that these young singers add to our community, we will sing William Mathias's ebullient Missa Brevis. The Gloria in particular in this mass setting is full of energetic, extroverted musical ideas. Welsh composer William Mathias lived 1934-1992 and began composing at the age of 5.
