This is borrowed from a sister church but it fits us too!
HP Church is not for everyone!
Yes, I am aware that church leaders are tempted to believe their particular church is “perfect for everyone!” It’s not true. There is no one-size-fits-all church. People are not cookie-cutter clones, but rather very unique individuals.
Who are we NOT for?
I’d say if you’re seeking a church large enough that you can slip in, slip out, and not engage personally, you should probably keep driving. We are small enough that we will know all your kids’ names and you’ll have the pastor’s cell number.
If you’re looking for a highly programmed environment with literally something every day and night of the week, we are the wrong fit. We very intentionally leave space for our people to be involved in their communities, nurture their families, and just be human beings and not always human doings.
Need a celebrity pastor and you only like to attend when he’s speaking? Wrong church. Definitely wrong. We are not built around the personality or fame of any leader. The only person whose presence really matters is HIS presence, and our gatherings are built around making HIM welcome.
Looking for dignified, solemn liturgy? Did I mention we are Pentecostal? We start with a plan, but are quick to abandon it when we become aware that HIS agenda is not the same as ours, because— after all — it’s HIS house! Sometimes we are downright undignified in our pursuit of his presence.
We might not be the right church for everyone, but we just might be exactly what you’re looking for.
