Dear People of Messiah,

Many thanks to you who donated and/or volunteered at the ISI garage give-away last Saturday, August 29! We were blessed with gorgeous weather. Each year, that event is a first point of contact with Christians for many students from overseas studying in Princeton. Cooperating with ISI (International Students Inc.) staff workers Bob and Carrie Louer, and with their dedicated crew of volunteers from local churches, Messiah seeks to offer hospitality to these students, build relationships with them, and bring the Word and love of God to them.

Tomorrow, and just about every Sunday September through May, we will gather for worship at 10:30am -- not 9:30! Please join us to hear the story of the original Passover in Exodus 12, about putting on the armor of light in Romans 13, and about resolving disputes within the church in Matthew 18.

With the start of the new school year, the activity level at Messiah is kicking into high gear. Thanks to you who work so hard to make these events happen! Details below.

Looking forward to worshiping with you tomorrow at 10:30am,

Pastor Martin

Dear People of Messiah,

In the Epistle Lesson for this coming Sunday, the twelfth Sunday after Pentecost, the apostle Paul asks, "Has God rejected his people?" To find out, join us for worship at 9:30am. Plus, in the First Lesson from Genesis 45, we'll hear of Joseph revealing to his brothers who he is after many years of separation. In the Gospel Lesson, we'll hear Jesus speak troubling words to a Canaanite woman and her response of faith. A theme throughout will be the strange mercy of God toward us.

Looking forward to a challenging and encouraging Service of Word and Sacrament,

Pastor Martin

Dear People of Messiah,

I look forward to worshiping with you at 9:30am this coming Sunday, the tenth Sunday after Pentecost. In our scripture readings, we'll hear of Jacob wrestling with God at the ford of the River Jabbok (Genesis 32:22-31), and Jesus miraculously feeding thousands of people from just five loaves of bread and two fish. Plus, Marion and Miranda will be bring refreshments for a pop-up fellowship hour following the service. Please join us!

See you Sunday,

Pastor Martin

Dear People of Messiah,

Tomorrow will be the ninth Sunday after Pentecost, and with it comes one of the best loved and most encouraging passages in the New Testament: Romans 8:26-39. The passage begins with us not knowing how to pray as we ought, and the Spirit interceding for us with groanings -- about which we heard last week -- too deep for words. It concludes with the apostle Paul saying, "For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord." That is good news worth celebrating! I look forward to joining you in worship tomorrow at 9:30am.

Pastor Martin

Fraud Alert:
Impersonation messages are common. If you receive an unusual text or email message from someone claiming to be from Messiah (e.g. church staff or parishioners), consider the possibility that it's from an imposter. If in doubt, contact the person directly -- not by replying to the message, but using contact information you already have for that trusted person.

If you receive a message asking that you send Messiah's church directory, or purchase gift cards, or that request an unspecified favor, those are scams. They are not from church staff or parishioners, even if they claim to be. Do not respond to them.
