To all Beth Chaim Sisterhood members – welcome to another year of fun and meaningful programs!
To those who have not yet joined – now is the time! New Beth Chaim members receive FREE Sisterhood membership for the first year. Existing Beth Chaim members pay only the $36 annual membership.
We are a great group of women who come together for social activities and programs to benefit Congregation Beth Chaim and our community. Annual membership includes our annual brunch, free attendance or reduced admission to many of our events and classes throughout the year, and priceless friendships. You can also purchase a gift membership for a friend or family member.

Annual Sisterhood Membership Brunch (free to members, registration required)
Our annual Sisterhood Membership Brunch is the big kick-off event to the Sisterhood year. This year’s featured speaker is Esther Amini, author of Concealed: Memoir of a Jewish-Iranian Daughter Caught Between the Chador and America. Esther Amini grew up in Queens, New York during the free-wheeling 1960s in a Persian-Jewish household, the American-born daughter of parents who had fled Mashhad, Iran. In Concealed, she tells the story of being caught between these two worlds: the dutiful daughter of tradition-bound parents who hungers for more self-determination than tradition allows. Join us on Sunday, October 25, 10:00 – 12:00, in the Social Hall. In addition to this engaging speaker, we will be offering a delicious brunch and chances to win raffle prizes. Author Amini will be selling her book ($10 - cash only). This event is only open to Sisterhood members, and registration is required. Sisterhood Programs
Throughout the year we offer opportunities including crafting, culture, and community. We will be hosting speakers, book clubs, game nights, fitness classes, and holiday events. Last week, we enjoyed a lovely W**e and Cheese in the Sukkah immediately followed by a lively book discussion of Heart of a Stranger by Rabbi Angela Buchdahl. On Sunday, November 22, Hadassah is supporting the Community Food Bank of New Jersey by packing period products for distribution to individuals and families in need across the state. Sisterhood supports this Hadassah event where they will pack period products. Get Involved
We encourage members to attend Sisterhood Board meetings, which typically take place on the third Thursday of each month, 7:00-8:00 pm, September - May (sometimes different weeks but always published in the Beth Chaim calendar). We are always open to program ideas. In the past, our offerings have included Israeli dancing, self-defense, a defensive driving course for discounts on insurance, and trips to the theater. Bring your ideas to a meeting and volunteer to get involved.
Community Care
We give back to the community throughout the year. Our New Year’s Cards and Purim projects are important fundraisers for our community. Our annual Mother’s Day project is held each year to assist women in need. We also provide scholarships – together with the Men’s Club – to our graduating seniors
