CALLING ALL DISC GOLF FRIENDS!
Kester and I (and 8 other helpers including my two daughters) will be putting on a disc golf clinic in the country of Romania in August. We are partnering with a Christian ministry there who offer access to various sports for children who otherwise don't have such opportunities. They specialize in rock climbing, but other activities are offered as well. Romania hasn't had much access to disc golf, and we are excited to introduce them to this sport we love and share our faith in God in the process.
We need your help to make the clinic great! The first part is disc donations for the kids. Our idea is to get them all started with some neutral 5-speeds such as Buzzz, Hex, or similar discs by other manufacturers. If you have one or two you could part with, please get them to me during the month of July. Discs don't have to be new, but hopefully in good enough condition that a kid receiving the disc will be proud to have it. We also are raising $700 to ship 5 decent practice baskets which will be utilized for the clinic but also brought out by the ministry directors at their camp in the future for setting up various temp courses on the grounds. Please contact me with any discs/funds you are willing to donate, and I'll update this post throughout July to reflect where the giving stands. Thanks so much friends!
Update: Thanks to Josh Battazzi and Goliath Discs for getting us started with 50 brand new OT Jirehs! Amazing!
Discs received to date: 50/100
Donations for baskets: $530/1100
(updated July 2)
2nd Update: Because the response has been so overwhelming and generous, we're going to raise the target just a bit to let more people participate. We will take as many discs as we can get. Hopefully we can fit around 100 in 2 checked bags on our flight ($150/each for this airline) and ship the rest later for them to use in the future. I'll estimate $100 for shipping, so the updated fundraising amount will reflect the checked bags and shipping cost for additional discs ($400). Thanks everyone!
