The Who and the How.
Today I want to talk about salvation. How does one receive it? This is often debated by different religions and denominations but the best way to find the answers is to always go to the source. To the bible. I like to break it down into two parts the Who and the how. Let's start with the Who.
John 14:6
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Acts 4:11-12
[11] This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. [12] And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
There is One person that can get you to Heaven, Jesus. The Jesus of the Bible. Not your own version of Jesus, only the Jesus of the Bible. Your pastor can't grant you access, other religious figures can't grant you access. Your parents can't grant you access. It's not some secret or mystery, Jesus said it plain as day he is the Way.
Now the How.
Man talk about often debated this one takes the cake. Again straight to the source, the bible. Not my opinion or how I feel, scripture.
Repent and believe.
Jesus made it clear that repentance and faith are like opposite sides of the same coin.
Mark 1:15 “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”
Romans 10:9-10
[9] because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. [10] For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
Repentance and faith go together because if you believe that Jesus is the Lord Who saves (faith), you have a changed mind about your sin (repentance); and if you repent, it’s because you trust that Jesus is the Lord Who saves.
Things that this is often disguised as.
Good works, earning your salvation.
Or repeat this prayer after me and your in. Or once your baptized you're saved.
Repentance is often over looked. True belief leads to true change. I'm not talking about some holier-than-thou perfection. I'm talking about remorse over sinful actions. The reality is the process of sanctification is a lifelong process, and God will expose different sins at different points in your life. It's about the heart posture when The Holy Spirit convicts you of something.
More of the Good news is that there in nobody that that is too far gone for God to save, and it's never too late.
Can you have true repentance in your last moments? The thief on the cross did. But if you're still alive and breathing has your belief changed you heart? Does the things you used to do with no second thought now bring sorrow? Or did you say some prayer but that was it nothing else has changed?
Friend's don't look to all these other avenues. It's right there in scripture. Repent and believe in Jesus because He is the Way, the Truth and the Life and no one gets to the Father except through Him.
Have A Blessed Day,
