Prestonsburg Church of God Love ~ Live ~ Learn ~ Lead Our vision for the future:

We see a place that so in love with Christ that it sets aside man made division & distractions.

We see a place that welcomes everyone, no matter their past. We see a place of healing, for both physical & emotional problems. We see a place of love where the hurting, the depressed, the confused & the frustrated can find shelter. We see a place where we measure growth through discipleship & not numbers. We see a place where families can bring their children to learn about the bible. We see a pl

ace that baptizes many new believers often. We see a place that will boldly stand up for the weak. We see a place that helps our community feel Gods Church. We see a place that brokenness is fixed & families are made whole. We see a place that puts compassion for others over our own needs. We see a place that needs to expand because of our growing family. We see a place where we can grow old together. We see a place where style of worship will never be a division. We see a place where “Different” is the norm. We see a place that changes the image of the Church of God in our community, our state & eventually the world. Christ ~ Family ~ Community

In yesterday’s sermon, we looked at one of the most important questions Jesus ever asked: “Who do you say I am?”

The Pharisees wanted another sign. The disciples worried about provision. The crowds had plenty of opinions. But Peter had a confession: “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

Our faith cannot be built merely on what Jesus does for us. It must be built upon who Jesus is. Even when we don’t get the sign, the answer, or the outcome we hoped for, Jesus is still Messiah, still Lord, and still worthy of our trust.

At the end of the day, the question isn’t what everyone else says about Jesus.

Who do you say He is?

In today’s sermon, we looked at Matthew 15:1–20 and Jesus’ reminder that following Him is about more than outward appearances, traditions, and simply looking religious. The Pharisees were concerned about dirty hands, but Jesus was concerned about the condition of the heart.

Jesus teaches us that what comes out of our lives reveals what is happening inside of us. Our words, attitudes, anger, bitterness, compassion, and love all flow from the heart. It’s easy to examine everyone else’s actions while ignoring what God wants to change in us.

The question isn’t simply, “Do I look like I’m following Jesus?” The deeper question is, “What’s in my heart?”

May our prayer be, “Jesus, search my heart. Pull up anything that doesn’t look like You, and transform me from the inside out.”

“But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart.” — Matthew 15:18 NIV
