šŸ«¶šŸ½ Camp is for everyone. šŸ³ļøā€šŸŒˆšŸ³ļøā€āš§ļø Our one hundred acres command the entire north shore of Lake Esau (one of Michigan's most attractive small lakes) together with substantial frontage on Lake Huron's beautiful Albany Bay. Most of the Camp is heavily forested and sh

elters several varieties of rare or endangered wildflowers. Camp Chickagami's location "off the beaten path" provides a secluded environment, dark and stary nights, and relative absence of intrusive lake traffic.

This week, our Director for Formation & Camping, McKenzie Bade-Knill, is attending the ECCC - Episcopal Camps & Conference Centers at Barbara C. Harris Camp & Conference Center in New Hampshire where Presiding Bishop Sean affirmed the tremendous formation power of our Episcopal Camps: "You won’t find any more serious formation in the Episcopal Church [than camp].ā€

We are so grateful for our partnership with Crossover Outreach that started with Craig and Denise. So happy for this incredible champion for the community in her retirement.

Tiffany will be an incredible leader. We look forward to the relationship continuing.

Congrats, Denise!

Just like that, the 2025 summer programming has come to a close and our last group of campers has headed home. We’re so grateful for every kid who spent time with us this season. Their energy, humor, curiosity, and kindness shaped each day. We saw friendships grow, campers try new things, and the small moments that make camp what it is. As we clean up and wrap the season, we’re thankful for the memories made and the community built here this summer.

The last few days of camp brought a good mix of energy and ease. Campers soaked up time with their cabins, explored new spots like Crystal Point, and had a blast at the archery range. There was plenty of laughter during Sink the Counselor and space for reflection in worship and formation. It all felt like a proper sendoff to a week well spent.

Tuesday was all about water. Campers swam at Ocqueoc Falls, climbed rocks, jumped into the river, and took in the views on a glass bottom boat tour. The fun kept flowing into the evening with swimming and games at the waterfront. And through all that, we still managed to squeeze in Camper’s Choice, morning worship, faith formation, and many other fun camp activities.

The first full day of our final week brought the familiar flow of camp life. Morning worship, faith formation, waterfront, and camper’s choice gave everyone time to settle in and enjoy being together. The evening wrapped with a Camp Chick favorite — Six Socks — and an extra surprise: campers got to pie some counselors in the face. Nothing like laughter and a little whipped cream to end the day right.

And just like that camp had its final opening campfire for the overnight season. We welcomed campers with songs and laughter around the fire as we eased into familiar rhythms. This week holds its own kind of special with new faces and returning ones coming together. There’s a quiet excitement as we begin the last chapter of summer.

Week 2 came to a close with a Eucharist service, offering a moment to pause, reflect, and take in all that was shared. With campers from all sessions bringing their energy and spirit, the week was full — of laughter, music, challenge, and connection. Each group left their mark in small but lasting ways. As we say goodbye to this incredible group, we’re filled with gratitude and ready to welcome our final session of campers for Week 3.

The past couple days have been packed with everything we love about camp—waterfront, campers’ choice, morning worship, and time for faith formation. Evenings brought big energy and bigger laughs: first with a counselor dress-up competition with a panel of judges, then a night of Mock Rock where campers took the stage to sing and dance like pros. It’s been a full stretch, and the joy has felt real.

Day 2 was field trip day, and camp was full of movement. Some groups hiked Ocqueoc Falls, others explored Alpena from the deck of a glass bottom boat. Back at camp, faith formation and a hike to Lake Huron gave space to recharge and reflect. It was the kind of day where everyone was in motion in different ways, but still connected—held together by shared experience, steady care, and a strong sense of community.

Today felt like the kind of day that reminds you why camp works. Our first day campers arrived and jumped right in—some quietly, some full of energy. Morning worship set a fun tone with music and movement, and by the time we got to the waterfront, everyone seemed to find their place. Arts and crafts gave campers a chance to get creative and slow down a little. Tonight, we rolled out something brand new: Camp Chick Olympics. Cabins raced, cheered, and laughed their way through a series of relay challenges, ending the day on a high note.
