Summary

The Bible describes envy as coveting, a “crooked desire” that leads us to want what others have and ignore what God has already given us. From the very beginning in Genesis, envy played a role when Eve desired the fruit, showing how misplaced desire can lead us away from God’s truth. Envy isn’t just wanting something, but resenting others for their blessings while feeling dissatisfied with our own lives, often leading to comparison, competition, and even criticism. The way to fight envy is by choosing gratitude and contentment, celebrating others’ blessings, and trusting that God has given us what we need.
