Overcoming the Obstacle of Being Lost

05/29/2026

Many religious teachings are accepted today simply because they have been repeated for generations. One of those teachings is the “Rapture” — the idea that Christians will suddenly disappear from the earth before a period of tribulation.

The surprising truth is that the word “rapture” is not found in the Bible, nor does the Bible teach a secret coming of Christ.

Instead, Scripture teaches that when Jesus returns, it will be a visible, audible, and unmistakable event:

• “Every eye shall see him” (Revelation 1:7)

• The Lord will descend “with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God” (1 Thessalonians 4:16)

• The dead will be raised, and the living changed at the same time (1 Corinthians 15:51-52)

• Jesus taught that the righteous and the wicked will face judgment in the same general resurrection (John 5:28-29)

The Bible does not describe two future comings of Christ—one secret and one visible. It teaches one glorious return, followed by the resurrection and judgment.

Rather than placing our faith in man-made doctrines, let us return to the Scriptures and ask the simple question: “What does the Bible actually say?”

“Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:21

Which man do you think has a better chance at changing? The man who attends, or the man who pretends? The man who seeks, or the man who stays? The man who is diligent, or the man who procrastinates?

Do more than just make yourself available for the work of the Lord, engage in the work of the Lord, today.

Hoarding

05/16/2026

Life has a way of placing obstacles in front of us—some small, some that feel overwhelming. As a church family, this month we’re focusing on overcoming obstacles, not by our own strength, but by trusting in God who is greater than anything we face.

Scripture reminds us:

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” — Philippians 4:13

God never promised a life without challenges, but He did promise His presence through them. David faced giants. Daniel faced lions. The early church faced persecution. Yet in every case, faith in God carried them through what seemed impossible.

Obstacles don’t have to stop us—they can strengthen our faith, sharpen our dependence on God, and draw us closer together as His people.

Whatever you’re facing right now, don’t face it alone. Lean into prayer, lean into God’s Word, and lean into your church family.

This month, let’s grow stronger together—because in Christ, obstacles become opportunities for faith to shine.

Electrical apprentices have to log thousands of hours before they can become a journeyman.
They go to class. They study. They train under experienced workers. And even after they “make it,” they still continue learning.

Now think about Christianity.

If your walk with Christ had a time card… what would it show this week?

How many hours were spent:

* In prayer?
* In Bible study?
* Serving others?
* Teaching someone the Gospel?
* Worshipping God?

If Christianity had a class schedule, would ours be full… or mostly empty?

A faithful Christian doesn’t drift into spiritual maturity any more than an apprentice drifts into becoming an electrician. Growth takes dedication, discipline, correction, and continual learning.

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God…” — 2 Timothy 2:15

“Exercise thyself rather unto godliness.” — 1 Timothy 4:7

We invest time into careers because we understand the value of preparation.
How much more should we invest in preparing our souls for eternity?
